The body plan and layout remind me very much of a Eurypterid.  Perhaps the ancient sea scorpions served as an inspiration for your design?

There's a definite resemblance, but mainly I used lobsters and turtles as reference. Thanks for pointing out the Eurypterid though, I could certainly see it being used as a starting point for another piece.

I did a drawing of a Eurypterid recently Ill have to send a picture to you.  I really liked your sea turtle creature, especially the skin textures.  Texture is something I struggle with and have yet to successfully pioneer in my work.  How large is the final product anyway?

Thank you, apologies for the delayed response and by all means send me a link to your picture. I think patience was the key to getting the texture right on this fellow. The sculpture is about 12 inches long.

Hey whats up?! Remember me?  Any who I finally got around to uploading my Eurypterid drawing.  Its actually supposed to be a scorpion Pokemon called Drapion.  I used the body plan of the Eurypterid to make it look more like an actually animal.

PS How did you go about integrating texture into your work? I need to learn texture in the hopes of progressing the quality of my work.

Cool, like your drawing. Regarding texture, for the scales I carved them into the surface with a very fine metal pick, whereas the lumps on the shell were made separately by hand and then attached. I wanted the scales on the main fins to be fairly symmetrical, so after finishing one side I photographed this and flipped it horizontally to use as reference.
