Personally I feel any inclusion of any of these ideas would be a huge improvement.

I'm sorry but I've been subscribed to you for years and not once have you made a face that didn't look like a mixture of picasso and constipation, this one is more like confusion and constipation, however. Not only that but at times yougive your women hands as large as their heads, which are always shaped strangely, and again to the picasso point, the eyes are almost never properly leveled with the orientation of the head, which is not surprising as often each cheek is drawn at a completely different angle.

Not only that you can't even keep the positioning of the facial features consistent even on the same page. Even when the face isn't moving.

I don't even know why I initially watched you in the first place, I assumed maybe that you wuold get better. Sometimes I have no idea what you're trying to convey with your shading, and it looks like you just wanted to have a large canyon or ravine on some faces.

Oddly enough your sketches are vastly superior at least in the one instance I've seen, I don't know where you go wrong when coloring.

First off, thank you for watching me for so many years. And i LOVE picasso...as illustrated here [link] . Its definitely a compliment.

About the critique. I have not looked at my art work so deep in many years. perhaps its the subject matter, or the huge workload. Perhaps its aspects of my technique that i haven't sharpened. Its something i will have to think on for a while. I tend to do a little better when relaxing, and drawing things for myself. Check out my other account for that.[link]

Alas, i was not formerly taught how to color lineart, and thus learn from observance. Are there any pointers you can give me ? Its sounds like you have a ton of knowledge on the matter.

Regardless, i am glad that you like at-least some of my art, and i wish you good night.

I would suggest making multiple layers of every set of lines before coloring. One for each arm, breasts, hair and face. Not just major outlines but also shading and reference lines. I'd then make sure they stay on top of the coloring job, and keep or remove sets of lines that don't belong or add to the piece.

Making layers for entire parts would be a good idea too, I would make a layer of both eyes, nose, and mouth, and attempt to rearrange them so that they have the most accurate positioning, or at least what looks to be the best. For instance, I feel a good 5 minutes in PS would do your korra sketch some good, sliding her right (our left side) eye a bit inward so it's more in line with the other eye. Then I'd move the nose up a few pixels, and maybe consider removing some lines.

Though not important and maybe a tad harder to fix, neck length could be taken into consideration. I feel the size and shape of hair and head both affect acceptable length of a neck, so this is up in the air.

Another idea is drawing both eyes and eyebrows/lashes regardless of whether or not they'd actually be covered up by hair; this is fairly common in some still anime art. The entire eye showing is acceptable, but what would make most artistic sense would be to draw and layer both the eye and hair, then place the hair over the whole eye. At that point you can choose what looks best.

Even if the layers and changes aren't used, having multiple versions and saves is akin to the "measure twice, cut once" rule, as you'll have multiple versions of the same picture to choose to publish with minor detail changes. Small things can affect the overall picture dramatically.

Another example would be the dark sorceress sketch, overall it's very acceptable, though I would argue the fingers on her right hand could use some defining (namely the two middle fingers, they look massive). That could be fixable in ps, but it might be a pain. Mostly, I'd suggest lowering the right ear a tad, the right eye a few pixels, and move the mouth over to the left, again all easily done with PS even as is, and the face would look a lot more centered and even.

Also I might consider layering/removing visible cheekbone shadowing; anime / asian style art and women tend to not have particularly pronounced cheek bones I feel, though this is just artistic opinion.

Awww thanks, that is some sound advice ... but it doesn't work for me
I dont do my art digitally, i do it with pen and pencil. I like drawing traditionally because it captures that energy...unlike the lifeless anime cookie cutter stuff found on DA so much.

Furthermore, it sounds really labor intensive. Don't get me wrong, it may work when casually drawing, but with my work load/clientele...lol, its too much mate. Basically i use the same technique as i did when i was a caricature artist. I do all of my PS coloring in layers, so im totally with you on layering everything. But the line-art, always comes as is, so there's only so much i can do.

One last thing about the anime comments. Hmmm, how should i put this ? Lets say I'm not a an anime artist. I dont pretend to be, and i never will in fact. But I do have some influence from anime art...I just loath any art that reuses/rehashes the same resources and same facial features over, and over again. I love drawing cheek bones, pronounced noses, and detailed features. The cookie cutter thing just doesn't work with my energetic sketchy style...know what i mean

Thanks for the thoughtful reply anyway... and im sure some artist somewhere will take your advice to heart. Or maybe you can post some art ? Or become a critique on DA. Welp, you tried... have a wonderful day

You can still layer the lines in photoshop. Doing so should only take 5 or 10 minutes tops and let you have more control over the outcome.

Ya i know ^^
I meant the layering of each specific element. Thats only practical when your lines are digital. Again, thanks for your attempt to help
But it just doesn't work. Dont worry, im sure with your knowledge you have tons of great art to work on...instead of worrying about little ol me.

Maybe you should make a tutorial with YOUR art !
Have a GREAAAT DAY fellow artist !
