Description Walls have ears, and darkness has eyes.
I am pretty beat today so I wanted to make something simple and I figured I should test some things about the particle systems in OpenToonz. I learned that there are some things I can't do with it, and some others that are easy to do. The timing of the eyes was supposed to be a bit different, but no easy way to do it. Still, looks pretty nice in the end, for so little actual animation done.

I read your description just now...true, anyone can write computer language algorithms...basic language and matematical literacy....it's a struggle for me, but I can...you took a program and tried to make it do your mind...the result is an excellent interpretation...even a painter uses a brush...a true artist makes his/her own brush.. lol...astonishing

The way these eyes got generated is a bit of a trick of the default particle system. There hasn't been any coding, just knowing what each tool does and how they can work together to save me some time.
The actual drawings and animations that were handmade were one eyeball that opens and closes, and one pupil that wonders around. There was one variant that was copied, for the middle one, and the rest was just the computer scattering the rest of the eyeballs around, after some fiddling and then having each pupil only appear on the eyeball itself.
Thus, they are lazy eyes

Ooh, that's a very interesting idea
A screensaver with a bunch of eyeballs opening up and staring at you.
I would actually be surprised if there isn't one already present on the internet somewhere.

Yeah...screen saver already exist...instead of a picture on the wall...a monitor on the wall, could actually sense your mood and display a visual concept relating....in the kitchen, living room, bed room any where... Like personal bill boards in your home

I was more referring to the eyeball screensaver specifically. A quick google search didn't quite find one, though, but maybe it exists somewhere

It hardly matters since it's so dark.

Thanks xD
Yeah, I make all my stuff in OpenToonz now. Back then, documentation was indeed only in Japanese. You can find it translated mostly now, but it's a rough read.
There are a lot more resources for ones interested in learning it now. More people made tutorials and it is getting more user friendly with each update (next update is bringing us the timeline, for those that can't stomach the xsheet!).
It still really likes to crash, though. But it has an autosave and I have developed quicksave triggerfingers so...
Also, I have a basic tutorial here , though it may need some updates since I learned some new stuff since then.

I use krita, witch have only basics features like... the timeline XD, seriously OpenToonz doesn't have a timeline ?? O.o
(And krita is fully a free software)
And I won't quit it beacause it was my drawing software before they added the animation tools, and they're still under developpment
But thanks anyway for the tutorial and the infos ^^

I use krita for illustration myself, but it cannot really compare to actual tools meant for animation when it comes to that area. And I doubt it ever will. That animation feature has been there intact for a very long time, and it is pretty much the same as the one photoshop has. There is little that will change there.
OpenToonz is an animation tool, but you can draw in it too (and I draw all my dailies in it entirely). It doesn't have the timeline, but it has an xsheet, which is kind of like... a vertical timeline. Time flowing from top to bottom. And there are some other differences to how it handles the columns. But I have gotten used to it and it works mostly the same. People tend to get lost initially if they get used to the usual timeline, though xD
OpenToonz is also free and open source like krita, but it being so much younger... it has quite a few technical issues, like bugs and user unfriendly features. But they are definitely fixing them pretty actively, even if there is a lot of work to be done. Apparently the original application's code was real rubbish and it's probably why they turned it open source, to let many programmers fix it up, since it's such a mess
I saw builds from like, half a year ago and they were missing some things I find essential right now, so it is definitely only getting better.
