Description
Test of Daz's new Michael 8 character. Playing with expressions a little bit. I like the look of his face although it needs some more work. There are some strange artifacts that I don't know what to make of - something that looks like gears on his left pec (partially hidden by my branding) - and a strange cavity between the pecs.Constructive criticism, especially from Daz experts, would be most welcome.

The neck is too long - I didn't notice this until later - because of the size of his traps. I also discovered that the issue I was having with the artifacts that I described in my original note - was due to the SubDiv level being set to 1. When I cranked that up as high as it would go, the artifacts mostly disappeared. I prefer G3M for the most part.

Thank you!  It is a product called "Oh My Body Hair" from Renderosity: www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/oh⦠It does not work well on all models, but mostly works with G3M and G8M.

Oooh, thank you! Β I really appreciate your kind words and encouragement! Β
I really like creating new characters. I've got a new one in the works - but I'm having trouble with a vital prop: iges obj Β Hexagon {mod-mod-mod} Daz.
Jake turned out really well, I think. I had to take his muscle down a bit, and I finally discovered the artifact is a vein from the vascularity for G8M but the subdiv was only 2...
Anyway, thanks again, my friend!! Β

That's all far too complicated for me! Β Anyway, I'm taking a break as my ex partner is back on the scene and I don't have the time! (plus the new engine in the aircraft plus the boat...!)

Pratev In reply to homoeros [2017-09-28 03:41:58 +0000 UTC]
Ha! Not as complicated as the alternative - learn how to do it in Hexagon myself and create my own prop...
Have fun on your break! Maybe, I'll get the backlog of your stuff I haven't looked at yet finished!

Very handsome indeed and has a striking resemblance with my exΒ , how much time does it take to render such an high quality pic? Mine's are barely 800x1200 and take an hour Β

Pratev In reply to ThegayFable [2017-09-25 14:08:35 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! I'm glad you like him! Β (Your ex wasn't called "Jake" was he? That would be *too much* of a coincidence!)
I think the render-time was between 45 minutes and 75 minutes. Close-ups like this one take longer. This was an Iray render and I recently beefed up my computer: Intel i7-7700K Quad Core 4.2Ghz with 32 GB RAM and an NVidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti with 8 GB RAM. My friend homoeros suggested I upgrade - and he was right - it *does* make a big difference! Another trick is to render stuff while you sleep!

I have no idea what the process is for these 3D models, but this looks stellar! Quite a nice look, I must say. (And, judging by the other shots, he's quite the fit fellow!)

I'm so glad you like him! He turned out really well for a test! Β Β
3D Media is very different from traditional media. It's all about adjusting parameters (like nose size, chest width, waist size, eye size and location, etc.) to come up with a look a like or the look I want, then posing the character in a "scene", positioning the camera and taking what amounts to electronic "snapshots". It's more like photography than it is like drawing, imho.
Thanks so much for commenting! Β

Very sensual look on this guy (is that why he's rated mature??) with beautiful pouty lips and strong jawline. Β You make him beautiful and yet ruggedly masculine. Β The beautiful variations of skin tone are very pleasing. Β Great work!

Thanks! I'm pleased with how Jake here turned out as well! He's rated "mature" because I mark ALL of my stuff "mature".Β
-- begin: rant --
I got zapped on my very first day and very first ever posting on DA by some useless self-deputized decency-troll, who apparently had nothing better to do then look for stuff to be offended by and then report it.
Now that everything on my DA account is marked "mature" anyone who is here looking is here looking by choice, so there should be NO EXCUSE!

Thank you! Β I like the way his face turned out as well. Β
I always try to make my Daz characters NOT look like rubber-stamp copies of the base character. Michael 8 is too new, so I can't really tell yet if this guy looks like all the others or not. Β

Not perfect yet, but we'll get there! I think I'm mostly satisfied with his face. He may need some cheekbone adjustments and his jaw is a bit forward as viewed from the side.
Body needs quite a lot of refinement.
Getting there!
