I have some questions though.

I would also speculate that this is where and when and how the three guys who stay with the circus build up their initial collection of bodysuits. Everyone else got turned into suits, which then got duplicated and carefully stowed out of sight before the people got restored.

That would be my guess, too. And given what we've learned about the circus, either the aliens give them a second gun, or the guy who stole the first one somehow makes his way back to the circus and... The circus gets the gun back. Somehow...
