This is more of 'how I draw my quick dumb comics'
Don't take the title seriously. I don't know how much of this is actually good info, but Allo asked.
(also I don't do everything like this. This in only for quick sketches and dumb comics.)

So the character tests. Only applies to human/humanoid characters, and not for the more stylized ones.

No Color Test: can you AND another person familiar with your characters identify a character with no color(line art)?
Color Pallet Test: can you AND another person familiar with your characters identify the character with just a color pallet?
T-Shirt Test: can you AND another person familiar with your characters still identify your character if they are wearing a white t-shirt and jeans? I'd also include one where you remove defining body modifications like tattoos or piercings.

These are more important the more OCs you have, but you can also take a lineup of other characters that are similar and try it.
I only hold myself to this dumb standard because I have tons of characters and they're all people to me.

If you need me to translate my bad handwriting tell me.

Also, details.
Adding in quick little detains adds to interest and distract from the fact that you sketched the image with no guidelines.
