Well this is a great start first of all! For a first attempt! The main thing is you got the proportions right, without that its bollixed from the start so your safe.
When im doing a vector like this I just keep building up the layers of shadow over and over and over starting with the darkest bits working to the lighter shades. Its pretty tedious but works. I dont like my work too colorful so I usually just build up my layers of shadow in blocks of pure black ( as opposed to flesh colors) and then set the layer on a weak opacity maybe only 4% depending on the intensity of the black. Then click it on to multiply making the black lightly transparent . I repeat this building up the shades like so. I really hope this helps? Every artist has their own way so im not saying this is the absolute best but its how I did my hopkins and willis. Let me know how you get on!
