Description
Character: Assassin CrossSeries: Ragnarok Online
Model: Me
Venue: Anime Expo 2007, Long Beach Terrace Theater
Costume made without the aid of patterns. Everything was cut directly to cloth. Armor made using a somewhat secret technique ^^ I also made the horns~

Ah, good luck with the armor! The easiest way to put the studs on the edges of the armor is to take upholstery tacks, cut off the tack part, and hot glue the head of it (the round, decorative side) to the armor. They can then be painted over

Actually, the scarf is sheer so it was the wig that felt so hot xD
The armor was a bit warm, but I padded it with fabric so it didn't make me sweat (it allowed my skin to breathe under the armor). I want to remake the armor in Wonderflex for durability since the old armor has seen better days--the costume is about 4 years old!!

I took a big chance on it, and it was worth it! Always look for Toyokalon/Kanekalon fiber, also for adjustable base caps because that means they won't be elastic and stretch around your head. If you have to manually adjust them, it ensures a firm and perfect fit for the day

My hair is almost black and very fine, so I have to be careful with it. I bleach it out, but carefully. There is a bleach called Italy that works wonders on Asian/Hispanic hair, if you're interested, but if I had pretty Asian hair I wouldn't want to mess with it too much :3 Whatever you change takes a lot of upkeep, and it becomes a hassle (and can seriously damage your hair if you're not careful!).

Sometimes. But I don't know...having a hood (such as Avatar) is the only thing that makes it really noticably hot. Going from low ventilation to none at all is a very harsh experience

Do you use a wig cap? They're very inexpensive (like a stocking you pull over your hair). I just pull my hair back with my hands, twist it up below the crown of the back of my head, then pull the cap over and smoosh my hair around until it's more flat. I tuck in the sides of my hair and anything hanging out around my neck, and then it's cake to put on and wear the wig
Also, a very nice thing about wigs: NO BAD HAIR DAYS :3 Even rain is no bother. The only thing I have to watch out for is wind ^^

Great costume!! *o* I love the horns especially and want to try making headgear myself. Did you use a headband or some tie for the attaching base? How'd you get the horns to stay fixed to the base?

A fabric-covered headband was used, along with a bunch of hot glue ^^ Worked like a charm~ Alternatively, you can hot glue some bias tape or ribbon around the inner edge of the horns so that only about 2mm is hanging out, then sew the pieces onto any wig. I've done that with Chobit ears, worked just fine and they remained sturdy for years ^^
