Andromeda Galaxy (M31) (center): Nearest galaxy to our Milky Way at a distance of 2.5 million light years. That means, light from M31 takes 2.5 million years to reach us and this photo of the galaxy shows how it was 2.5 millions years ago!

M32 (bright spot to left of M31) & M110 (bright spot to right of M31): Satellite galaxies of M31. M31 & M32 contain supermassive black holes at their center. M31 is known to have at least 13 dwarf galaxies!

Andromeda galaxy is expected to collide directly with the Milky Way in about 4 billion years.

Both Andromeda and Milky Way are giant spiral galaxies with Andromeda being much bigger than our home galaxy. When I look at Andromeda in the night sky, which seems like a reflection of our own home galaxy, I can't help but wonder if even one of its 1 trillion stars might host life like our Earth. If it did, could it be of single celled organisms or of intelligent life?

Maybe there is intelligent life on one of the stars of that galaxy that I see.. Maybe one which is more intelligent.. At least intelligent enough to have learned to live in peace, just maybe!
