Description
Tyrannocichla is predatory, pike like cichlid from fresh waters of future Eurasiafrica. It grows to almost 2 meters long and hunts like a pike. It is freshwater descendant of marine descendants of Malawi lake cichlids. It is closely cognate to spiderfishes. Its pelvic fins have 4 hardened rays used for anchor in water bed or plants. But it still cannot walk on it. And it have gas bladder so unlike spiderfishes they can swim in open water with no problem. Now I see I made 2 mistakes in its short “latin” name on paper… :/
Second one, below is arrowasp, smaller, 40 cm long predator, of the cyprinid family. In future cyprinids begin to loose rivalry with livebearer and cichlids, but still some relic species exist and are in good way.
