Let me first start out by saying MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL YOU FABULOUS PEOPLE!
Whether you celebrate it or not, this is truly a wonderful season :3
This is my first Christmas drawing in quite a long time. I normally pretty busy this time of year, but I couldn't resist! I have such fun drawing it, and since I'm sick now, I really am glad I got to finish it before Christmas. I'm really happy with how it turned out. It was fun doing all the lighting and drawing that fire! //pyromaniac//
This is somewhat inspired by me and my friends. The Raccoon would undoubtedly be Anna, The wolf would be me, and Squirrel would be Charity, and the Reindeer would be Shiloh! (~dragonchild14 ) The turtle is my brother XD (~SteelersFootballX6 ) and the polar bear, sparrow, and hare were inspired by a few other friends, but yeah, lots of animals :3
Anyway, hope you enjoy this piece! And enjoy the holiday season as well. Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
I'll also make this available as a print if anyone wants to use it for Christmas cards and such ~

Each animal was inspired by a friend of mine. The deer is my pal Shiloh. I'm actually the one (in the picture) who gave her the candy cane piercing. So I'm amused about that XD

you got alot of neat little concepts here!i like the poses and animal diversities here, and how they all have their own Christmas accessories, though is the caribou's front legs tucked under him? the candy cane earring was totally random XD. i have to sat the candy cane in the wolf's mouth doesn't look right. the bonfire looks really good and the lighting along with it too.
in my opinion i dont think the background needed to be that complex, there didnt have to be mountains or a sunset or a little village because its kind of drives the focus from the animal circle. the snowfall wasnt needed but it did give it a nice feeling and texture, but again it got a bit complex in the background. i think it would've been fine in just a cave or whatever.
but overall its a very nice piece with a lovely feeling to it, and i hope you have a merry christmas

Anyway, I wanted to get the feeling that they have their own life up in the forest while the rest of the world ignores them. So I added a village, and a mountain, and a sunset just to set a specific type of mood (plus I wanted it to be colorful).
Anyway, yeah, I...suck at deer anatomy right now, so I kind of improvised. I tried doing several different things with it's legs, it just didn't look right, so I decided to go with underneath even though it really isn't anatomically correct. It was my first time drawing some of these animals (turtle, reindeer, bear, squirrel) so I kinda had to make do.
Anyway, the reindeer is pretty random. I wanted to make it look like the raccoon and the wolf were annoying it to death XD So that added a bit of humor, even if it isn't logical. I'm not really logical myself, so hey, it fits quite nicely.
The candy cane in the wolf's mouth was supposed to be laying across it's tongue. I would have put more foreshortening in there to make it look right, but yeah, Some of these things came out a bit iffy.
From the beginning I was planning this type of background. Snowy slope/ledge/cliff and then something like a mountain in the background. It started out as a rather simple concept, but I like what it grew into. I also do like the added snow. I didn't put much detail into it, but theres clouds moving toward the sunset so it's kinda getting dark/snowy.
Thank you for the critique! I need to work more on those little details, and also composition. But I like how this came out.
