Nothing wrong whit having a floppy in 2018. You can use it but do not have to just because it's there. And in this pic I think it's the way the (old) computer case is designed. If you take the floppy drive out there will be a hole in the front. Better have a unused floppy drive sitting there collecting dust than having a gaping hole. I own a case like that.
