Description A logo I thought of making. I thought I might make a TMNT/MLP fanfiction, but I don't know. I saw a comment from someone very recently saying what was wrong with me for making such a crossover. But I could honestly care less about what they think of it. I enjoy creating this kind of artwork.

What Turtle-verse? (I have issues with the 2k3 show because of the tiny shredder)

By the way, excuse the italics in most of that.  Hit the wrong key.

And Mirage doesn't own TMNT anymore.  Viacom Itnl./Nickelodeon does.  But you go with the version of the Turtles that YOU want to, k?  It'll be cool, regardless.

Thanks. I know that Nickelodeon owns TMNT, but just the thought of it being owned by what I think is a terrible cartoon company is just sickening.

You're very welcome, hun.

And yeah, I hear ya.  Nick DOESN'T exactly have the best reputation (in MY book, anyway) for what I'd call good Toons in the last few years.  (*cough*spongebobsquarepants*cough*)

They USED to did, in their EARLY days (DangerMouse, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Spartacus; etc.), but now (except for TMNT, that is)...NOT so much.

The thing is, it's NOT Nick, per say, that owns TMNT; they just make the "new" series.  Viacom International is the parent company that owns the TMNT franchise, as well as Nick, Nick Productions and Paramount Studios (the latter of which is producing/distributing the DVDs of the Nick TMNT series, as well as, SUPPOSEDLY, the new live-action movie that they're SUPPOSED to be making.  But with Michael Bay as its producer, I don't hold out much hope for a good fifth TMNT movie).

Me neither. You can't look up to a live action movie to make a franchise look good. I learned that from the Transformers movies. Michael Bay is one the worst directors/producers ever! Nowadays I prefer to watch Transformers: The Movie from the 80's because of how awesome and suspenseful it is compared to Bay's films.

You're right on how Viacom is the company that mainly owns the TMNT franchise and not Nickelodeon, I feel a little more relieved now. I'm surprised on how much you know this kind of stuff.

The new TMNT series isn't great to me, which is something we have in common. I have a lot of reasons for hating it, which is a mother load. Pretty much the main things I don't like is that they take most of the elements from the boring 80's series: the Utroms (small, originally peaceful, tentacled aliens if you don't know) are an evil alien race renamed "the Kraang" that are bent on destroying Earth and making it more suitable to the Kraang. And the Turtle's sensei in the series was a human before mutating into a rat instead of originally being a pet rat, which I find more interesting and dark.

It's nice to share with someone about our opinions once in a while.

Yeah, I totally agree with you about Bay.  I wasn't all that turned off on the Transformers movies, at first (granted, I only ever watched the first one all the way through), but then I saw what his version did to my No. 1 favorite, and particular pet, among the Autobots, Bumblebee.  His transformation (pardon the pun, please) from a VW Bug to a Camero (or whatever his car from was; I forget) didn't bother me all that much, as VWs of that kind AREN'T really known for their high speeds (Herbie, forgive me for that).  It was the fact that, for whatever STUPID reason, Bay made it where he COULDN'T even TALK!!!  Talk about ticked off, I was!  And still am!  I'll take Bumblebee in whatever TF Toons are on TV now (so long as they can talk like Optimus or whoever) over that stupid movie!

Well, the thing is, the first three movies about the TMNT were live-action, with actors in the Turtle suits, and Splinter was basically a puppet.  (A glorified Muppet, if you will, as Jim Henson's company was who made the Turtle costumes AND Splinter's body FOR the movies.)

Granted, back in the early 90's, that was about the only way that you could go with a live-action movie about 4 mutant turtles and a mutant rat, and I really liked them back then, but I watch the DVDs that I have of those first three movies now, and they're more than a little campy, in terms of the Mirage Comics and the 2003 TMNT cartoon.

Which ISN'T to say that I don't like them; I still do...a lot; I just like the 2007 CGI-animated TMNT movie better.  Which is why I actually DO like the Nick cartoon series.  I think, for MY part, that it's pretty cool.

And the reason that I tend to know a lot about the franchise is because I'm a long-time, staunch fan of our Boys in Green, as I affectionately call them.  I started out watching the 80's toon, which led me to the Archie Comics series of them, and from there, to the original Mirage Comics series, which I still collect to this day, even though Peter Laird sold his ownership of the franchise TO Viacom lock, stock and Turtle shell, back in 2009..which, coincidentally, was the 25th Anniversary of when he and Kevin Eastman created them back in 1984.

As for the TV series, all I can say is, it's still kinda growing on me.  I don't actively hate it (hey, no matter WHAT they look like, or who makes the series, they're still our Turtles, right?!); just some of the changes that were made to otherwise great characters, and a great original concept.

I have to totally agree with the majority of your dislikes, actually.  The main one being about Splinter being Hamato Yoshi again, rather than his pet rat like in the Mirage comics AND the 4Kids cartoon.  And what was worse is that they made him his original height, rather than shrinking him to where he was shorter than the Turtles, as they did in the original cartoon.  I was not, and still AM not, happy about that at ALL, so we have that in common.  Because you're right.  The original idea about Splinter AS a rat, rather than being a human ninja master mutated INTO a rat was the better, more interesting and darker one.

One good thing about it, though, and THAT is that they kept the rivalry of Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki (Shredder, of course) over Tang Shen intact, and THAT ended with Shen's death, as it has in several versions, and Yoshi fleeing to New York after that.  (NOT that of the Mirage comics and the 4Kids cartoon, of course, but at least they were closer to what actually happened to Yoshi and Shen.)

ANOTHER caveat that I have about the new series is what they did with April.  And by that, I mean that, rather than making her an adult, like she's ALWAYS been in no matter WHICH type of media or universe, the ninnies over at Nick thought it'd be a good idea to make her the same age as the Turtles!  Now, who it was that came up with THAT idea, I don't know, but it was one of their DUMBER ones.  (Along with giving the guys THREE toes on their feet, rather than the customary, and to me sold canon, two.  Which I'm slowly getting used to, as I don't pay THAT much attention to their feet, anyway.)

Oh, by the way, on the subject of April and what usually happens in her life in the course of any TMNT series (TV, or print), I heard that, back before Season One of the new TMNT series had even started airing, while it was still being made, that the producers had made plans for Casey Jones to show up sometime during the course of Season Two.  I've been watching the new eps, though, and haven't seen him yet, though.  But it's still fairly early in this new season, so we'll see what happens later on in it, I guess.

And yeah, I know what the Utroms are.  They featured quite a bit in the 4Kids TV series, as well as the Mirage comics.  I especially liked them in the 4Kids series, as they really expanded a lot on Utrom culture and customs in it.

And the reason that the (vastly irritating, ESPECIALLY when they're talking, using their robot bodies...to the point I just wanna find a shotgun and go gunning for the whole mess of 'em!) creatures in the Nick series are called the "Kraang" is because (at least from what I hear over in the TMNT fandom community) is because Nick wanted to pay tribute to Lord Krang from the original TMNT Toon, who, if you know anything about him, was a warlord, conqueror and tyrant in Dimension X before being stripped of his original body and exiled to our dimension and planet.  The only difference between him and his modern-day counterparts is that, as ruthless as HE was, THESE guys are a thousand times WORSE!  (After all, all Krang wanted to do was just conquer the universe (whichever one that he was IN at the time...his, OR ours.  What the Kraang want to do is just what you stated above: destroying all life on earth so they can remake to suit their purposes and needs.  Which is ACTUALLY the darker, crueler and far more evil of the motives between him and them, once you think about it.)

Oh, btw, I don't know if you follow, or get at all, the "new" TMNT comic book series from IDW Publishing, but it's pretty good.  Granted, there are some characters in it from the 80's cartoon series (the Nuetrinos, Warlord Krang; etc.; but TRUST me, they are NOTHING like they were in the cartoon!  They are definitely darker and edgier.  But then again, Kevin Eastman in on the production team, so it's all good.

Oh, and I should tell you that this book series is a VERY large blending of just about every TMNT series; comic book and TV show; EVER produced!  (Well, EXCLUDING Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, that is)  It has Bebop and Rocksteady from the original TV series and the Archie Comics (but WAY darker and meaner), Hun and Karai from the 2003 4Kids cartoon series; etc.; with new characters like Old Hob, the mutant cat and Alopex, the mutant fox (or is she a cat?); etc.

Oh, and Shredder is Karai's grandfather in this comic.  Don't know how they (the writers) managed to come up with THAT particular wrinkle, but I kinda find it amusing.

And as of the City Fall arc in the comic, Leonardo is a member of the Foot Clan.  (A BRAINWASHED, courtesy of the mysterious Kitsune, member, but currently a member of it, and Shredder's Chunin (I think that means "second-in-command", but I'm not entirely sure, as I'm not a ninja myself, OR a member of a ninja clan), too boot!  As Applejack would say, "How do ya like THEM apples?!"

And yes, yes, it is.

And pardon me for being so "long-winded", but I was warming to the subject.  So that happens to me sometimes.

You sure know what to say in a hundred paragraphs, as you would say "long-winded". I understand all of what you think of the TMNT franchise and how I should get around accepting for what it is now. I know a lot about the 80's series, so from the looks of things, you don't have to tell me twice.

I like the TMNT movies not only for taking elements from the Mirage comics, but the humor in it as well, and I wouldn't mind if they had to use turtle costumes and a rat puppet if they didn't know how to make CGI movies back then. Just gives a good feel of the 90's.

The way Bay took away Bumblebee's ability to talk in the Transformers movies wasn't very impressing, but the way they gave him a more efficient vehicle mode was convincing.

You're probably right, I should get around into reading the new TMNT comics series. I was thinking of getting the original Mirage comics version to see what it looks like first.

The whole idea of the Turtles and Splinter being humans who were reincarnated in the IDW comics doesn't sound that great. The new characters like Old Hob and Alopex are cool, though.

I was also thinking of making a non-TMNT crossover that is more oriented around the original Mirage comics.

You should check out my artwork gallery. I've made some TMNT/MLP pairings that might interest you, especially one with Applejack and a special some turtle.

Hey, if youbwant to make a TMNT/MLP crossover, I,/i> say, GO FOR IT!

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with doing a crossover like that.  I don't know WHO told you that, but just disregard it.  I mean, I've seen MLP crossovers with everything from Warhammer to Transformers.  Who was that person to say that making this crossover is wrong?!  It's YOUR idea, so GO for it!

Besides...I'VE got one in the works that's a three-way crossover between TMNT, MLP and Biker Mice From Mars.  How's THAT for odd?!

Thank you so much for your encouragement. I thought myself that there wasn't anything wrong with doing it. You've given me the most encouragement than anyone else so far. And the three-way crossover you're working on, it sounds huge.

You're very welcome, my friend.

And heck no, there's nothing wrong with it!  I've seen, well, what I'D consider way stranger, weirder ideas for MLP crossover fics (heck, crossovers between other fandoms that I would've thought were totally out in left field for a crossover), so yours is pretty mild (to say NOTHING of TOTALLY cool!) for a crossover with our fave magical, pastel ponies.

And I'm glad that I could help.  Your idea, as I've said, sounds WAY past cool, and I can't wait to read it once you get it online.  Just let me know where is is, so I can, okay?

And it's looking that way.  Without giving to much away/spoiling too much, it's basically an idea that I've had running around in my head for awhile concerning something based in my Biker Mice-verse headcanon that deals with a lost race on Mars that ties in with the origins of the Ponies of Equestria, and their world, which, in MY headcanon, is called "Terra".  (Yeah, WAY corny, I know, but so many writers use either "Gaia", or "Equis", for its name, and with so many OTHER races that live there (griffons, dragons, Diamond Dogs; etc.), I wanted a name that was, well, pretty neutral to all of them.  Hence, "Terra".)

Speaking of, if you'd have an idea for a fairly species-neutral name for their planet, shoot it my way, if you would.  I'd TOTALLY give you credit for the idea in my fics.

Hey, that's okay.  A lto fo folks really don't, as the original show ran on the FOX network from 1993 to 1995 (til the fall season of 1996, actually), and while there was a revamped, updated version that was aired on 4Kids TV while it was still on FOX, I think that they only ran it from August to December of 2008, and never aired it on TV after they switched to the CW Network (although they had all the episodes on the 4Kids website up until about a year ago).

If you're interested about finding a little bit about the universe and fandom, I can give you a couple of links to two of my fave BMFM websites; one an official website, and one that an unofficial fan club site.  Just let me know, okay?

OR, I can just give you the link to my ORIGINAL account here.  I got that one mostly for my Biker Mice, TMNT and SWAT Kats art and stuff, and I have a few pics of at least TWO of my BMFM OCs over there.  Again, just let me know, okay?

And you're not being rude at all.  I'm still interested in see what you come up with.
