Against All Odds
Chapter 1

It was late afternoon. The sky was a faint pink-to-orange gradient in colour. The air was warm and the wind blew very lightly. Abe lay in under a tree in Spooceshrub forest, enjoying the shade and the peaceful silence.

"Abe!?" yelled a voice. "Abey! Where are ya!?"

"Alf?" asked Abe. He got up and looked around. "Alf!?"

Suddenly Abe spotted a green figure amongst the trees.

"Alf, over here!" he called out.

Alf then spotted him and went over. "Hiya Abey! Raisin wants to see you,"

"Raisin?" asked Abe. "Do you know what he wants?"

"Nope, I was just asked by Big Face to get you. He says it's urgent," Alf explained. "C'mon!"

Abe shrugged and ran off after Alf. The two ran out of the forest and were then standing before a large cave mouth. The cave itself looked exactly like the Raisin himself, a giant sort of seed.

The two walked in cautiously and were confronted by Big Face and the Mudokon Shaman that guided Abe and Munch the Gabbit on their journey two years ago.

"Hey hey! Glad you could make it, Abey! Long-time-no-see, eh?" chimed the Shaman.

"Well hi to you too, I guess. What's going on?" Abe asked, confused.

"You'll find out soon enough. Alf, sorry but you'll have to leave," explained Big Face.

Alf shrugged. "Fine. Laters guys,"

They watched as Alf walked out of the cave. Abe was then pushed into the door of the Raisin's lair. He walked into the darkness as the doors slammed shut behind him. He walked past two Mudokons who were meditating and into a small circle. A faint light shone on him. In the darkness, four intimidating yellow eyes appeared.

"It's about time, Stitch-Lips," said a deep voice.

Abe had a strange case of de-ja vu as he remembered that Raisin has said the exact same thing two years ago when he returned after rescuing Munch.

"I came as fast as I could," he insisted.

"Never mind that now," said Raisin. "I have another task for you,"

"Another one?"

"You've had two years of peace, now you need to step it up and take a very serious matter into your own hands,"

"Well, in that two years I have been blowing up other Glukkon run factories with Alf…"

"This is not the time for excuses and comebacks! Abe, you need to go the planet Earth,"

Abe paused for a bit and thought. "Earth? Where's that?"

"It is a planet far away. It is inhabited by many creatures and is a lot like our own world, even though there are many similarities. The wildlife is like what we have here, only not all are deadly, savage and cunning. The intelligent ones are called Humans. Unlike this planet where there are many types of us which have 'advanced knowledge', there are only the humans on Earth which have such,"

"So why do I need to go there?"

"Because they have discovered us. If they get here, who knows what they'll do. And they're ruining their own planet so I don't even want to think about what they'll do here,"

"So you want me to…?"

"Blow up the lab where they discovered us,"

"Well this can't be hard considering all the other places I've blown…"

"Humans are not like Glukkons, Abe. Humans are all different. Some will kill you, others will perform experiments while the rest watch like Sligs that have been commanded to. That is my warning. And you will go alone,"

Abe sighed. "So how am I going to get there?"

"Big Face along with other Mudokon Shaman will open a portal near the Mongo River. You must leave tonight,"

Abe sighed. "Well, I guess I'd better get going then…"

The Raisin sighed in approval. "Good. Once you reach Earth… you must then…then…". His voice trailed off and then fell asleep.

"Typical," sighed Abe.
