Description
Giving Up And Letting GoWhat happens to the forgotten day?
Is it deleted, forever lost to time, place?
Is it mourned? Like a lost loved one?
Or is it trapped right next to my heart?
The day that you forgot, the day that I remember so clear.
The day I first met you.
Artist's Comments
Something needed, for me. I don't care that it's not
perfect. Please, just don't do any really hard critiques. I'm
sorry I don't have much more to write, but I don't really
want to type it. The more I think about it the sadder I get.
(before anybody asks, the cracks are like the walls I built
are crumbling down, revealing the broken mess underneath.)
The hardest part is letting go of you.

Sorry if this is a little bit of a rushed crit. I havent been feeling well this week.
First off I'd like to say that I love the feeling of the lighting in this piece and how it seems there's a shaft of it solely on the horse. The problem with that is that the edges of the picture are very very dark for the amount of light you have on the horse. I'd either lighten them up or add something like shrubbery or trees to have the lighting "make sense".
Another thing I noticed was the orientation of your hair. The tail is beautifully done, but the mane is a little wonky. By that I'm referring to it's thickness. The forelock should be much much thinner in relation to how thin the rest of the mane looks. If you intended for a thick forelock, I'd add more hair to the rest of the mane to kind of even it out. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Also with how details the mane and tail are, I lose a lot of that detail when my eye reaches the coat. The horse itself looks incredibly blurry inside its general outline. Take the muzzle, for example, in relation to the rest of the body. The lighting is so strong and vivid that it's reaching the horses' leg farthest from the sun even though the tail is in front of the light source. If this is the case, then even with the head slightly turned, the muzzle should be outlined in a much more harsh light than it is. With that being said, you have a large dark spot right in the middle of the face that instead should be showing a reflection of the light from the hair/coat. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
" title="

The last thing I noticed was the depth of the foliage in this scene. I can see rocks and bits of wood on the ground beneath the grasses in the fore and backgrounds which makes me wonder where your hooves are. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
" title="
(Wink)"/> The shadow also seems to be on a flat surface. You should try to figure out a way to make it contour to the ground.
Oh! I do love those cracks in the horse's coat. If you go in with a small brush and add little bit of light color to the edges it can really boost the effect of the depth of the cracks. Maybe adding a few "lips" outside the body of the horse would be interesting too.
Small things aside, this really is a beautiful piece. You have improved so much! <3

Funny thing was, I really didn't like that tail when I finished it, it just kinda grew on me.

It's fine... better than not saying anything at all! I think it's rude when people don't reply to their commenters. I mean, it does take a bit of time to type.

Some comments I don't. Just cause we have been doing and
for the last 3 replies, or I don't usually reply to the your welcome comments. But other than that, even if I'm late, I wont delete it an eventually reply.
