Thanks so much! Yeah, that movie made me very suspicious about little old mr. mannequin. I always keep one eye on him.

i think its wonderful how you have managed to portray the sence of defeat so well by body pose alone. this shows what a fantastic sence of figure you have. the lighting and perspective here is alsowell chosen. an imaginative and well executed piece

Yeah... I felt really bad for him when I shot this. Then I realized that he is a wooden mannequin, and really doesn't have any feelings. So I just adjusted him to a happy position and felt better about the whole situation.

Mine was forced to hold things. I took one of those flags from the hard rock cafe and taped it to his hand... and he held bracelets and stuff around his head

Thanks! It was fun getting the shot into focus while dealing with the extreme lighting behind it the mannequin.

The wooden mannequins are about 8" tall. So I guess they would be considered as being decently sized.

wow the title suit it so well I can totally make out how the maniquen is depressed from the angel which it is on and the shadow effect which is cast upon it - makes me able to make out a face even though the actuall object in the piece is faceless

You could have made it less grainy, so the wood of the puppet would look better, though it looks good as is. Also, try adding a background and see if it works...
Why be so sad and look at his position from a dark point of view? For me, he is not hopeless and tired, but I see him above me, helping me get up after I've fallen quite hard. He is the good samaritan for me I love the focus on this one. The wood of the puppet is nicely worked on and looks quite good

Yeah, it was just a bit tough taking the photo and keeping the colour levels without grain as I took a shot of the mannequin in front of a huge, overly bright white light to get the effect. To make the wood more visible I had to play with the colour settings a tad and that made it look a bit grainy in areas.

Ooh! This is awesome. I love the angle and the light. Yet the hands in first position and the angle of the head almost make it look as though it is a pose of rest, rather than defeat.

Very interesting thought, Princess. To me, the pose sort of resembles when someone lets a sigh of desperate hopelessness and hangs their head low.
