I'm not too sure about that, as I am not an expert on Buddhism. However, he is facing the door of my shower, so I suppose if its true no evil spirits are going to get me while I bathe.

Buddha is indeed a nice statue to keep around. i have one that fulfills wishes (supposedly) if it's tummy is rubbed.

I have one of those as well: a 5ft marble statue by the pool. My father has been collecting Buddha statues and carvings from around the world.

I have a very soothing shower, I'm not gonna lie. It has that buddha and a skylight high above it (the ceiling of the shower is quite high) so that my Buddha and I only get natural sunlight during my morning shower.
