Very nice piece of work. Just out of curiousity, where did you get the mannequin? IKEA by any chance? Hehe.

It was from an Art Supply store, actually.

Fair enough, but I'd rather just do a regular dance as it is safer — lower chance of pulling a muscle.

Thanks! The mannequin was quite fun to play with. Well worth the $5 I spent on it.

this reminds me of the birdcage when robin williams starts flailing his arms around and saying "madonna, madonna, madonna" aside from the silly stuff i really like angle, that it looks like the little guy is slightly tilted back. its more interesting than just a straight on shot. and its also cool how some areas are in a sharper focus than the others. backlighting is always nice too. works well with the angle. nice work

The Birdcage is a classic movie! Thanks, the backlight was stuck at an angle so I figured I would place the "dancer" in a parallel angle — to my surprise, it looked pretty decent.

Depends on the size. They make larger 18" ones that I don't know the price of. I got a little 8" for about $5 on sale, as I bought it on my lunch break and didn't want to walk back into work with a gigantic wooden mannequin in my hands.

Thanks. The pose is meant to be that of a ballet dancer preparing to commence dancing. It may not be the most interesting of ballet poses, but it marks what splendor may come.

Excellent use of backlighting, there are so many boring shots of these wooden minquins but this is one of them.

I'm assuming you meant to say "this isn't one of them," as it from the rest of your sentence it looks as though you liked the photograph. In that case, thanks a bunch.

what is with obsession with maniken? i took a bunch of photos of mine the other day (todd) and put them in scraps, and to do printmaking assignment of him, and some guy talk to me and say he has same maniken (as do you) and look in his gallery, and i looked, and he does?

Yeah, the only variations I have seen of the poseable wooden mannequin is a female version. Otherwise, they all look the same.
