Sin #4: It seems to be a common trend to make characters have a tragic childhood or life before Equestria, while this can add more depth into a character and add more justification or explanation for a character's actions, it is also a double edge sword. A lot of times, having these types of back stories are not at all that entertaining to read or it changes the tone of the story in a bad way; most of the time it is completely unnecessary and ends up angering the readers if you have a very slow update rate. If there was any advice I can give it's DO NOT take up an entire character unless it is important to understand the story as a whole and DO NOT put a tragic background story if you know that the character has to make a choice to go back home or not at some point (it destroys any tension there is about going back to your own kind if the readers are aware that he would chose Equestria over a shitty life on Earth).
Sin #5: Why is it that every time I look for a HIE fic, "I'm your average person until I was sucked in to Equestria for a mysterious reason" is the most common description, I mean it is done to death at this point.

Side note: I wanted to see what I can come up with when I take people's suggestions, I am not disappointed, so thanks to CommanderCTC for being my first. also I wonder if anyone got the joke in the first panel. Also

Bonus sins:
> overuse of the stand tool
> the first two speech bubbles have white outlines because I used the fuzzy tool during editing
> missed several opportunities to have background easter eggs
> shadows consistently overlap because I was too lazy to use the shadow tool
> it took me 8 comics (tutorials, fluttermedic and the last few HIE) to finally stop using comic sans
> turns out that there is a possible chance that I misinterpret commanderctc's comment and he was talking about soldiers in the military.
