Description Carpe Momento - Seize the Moment.

Spent 8h+ this night making this. I drank a very large cup of coffee and just opened Photoshop and stared putting together something.
I think it turned out pretty nice myself. For the curious, here's a breif list of the process:

- Made landscape, around 3 photos.
- Added sky, 4 photos.
- Added billowy clouds to landscape, 1 photo.
- Added details to landscape, airbrushing etc.
- Added seagull, 1 photo.
- Added prop-plane over river + smoke + wakes + shadows/reflections etc, mostly airbrushing and 1 photo for ref only.
- Heavy color adjustments, contrast, levels, sharpening and small fixes and such.
- Title.

Stocks were obtained from sxc.hu and morguefiles. (google it, too tired to type urls)

Working size: 2000x4000, 300dpi
What you see here: 50%
Insane ammount of RAM I should have to work at this size, but don't got: 4GB
Time for Photoshop to save this file (Ctrl+S): Around 20secs

If I could afford a print accound this would be a print, but I don't, so unfortunetly it isn't.

Cheers! (It's 4:59 AM here btw.) -_-

Hey, I don't want to be a bastard or anything, but isn't it Carpe Momentum? A verb with accusative? I'm not sure, maybe it's carpere with ablative...
Anyway, I love the pic! Is that a stock photo or did you make it yourself? And how did you managed to keep it on such a high resolution?

Actually, I have no idea if it's right or not. I just ran it through a translator on the web. Heh.
The main background is a high-res stock photo, then I've added more background near the horizon and of course the spacey stuffs and the hot air baloon (spelling?).
Glad you like it!

Woups, I was thinking of a different image but yeah, same principle, high-res stock from the start. Built it up using several stocks so it got bigger and bigger.

Coffe is your friend.
And good stock is the foundation to good images. I Sometimes spend hours looking for the right stock.
Can't wait to get a decent camera myself, but they're expensive as hell... gonna take a while to save up. :/

this is beautiful dear. i like all the little details..how the birds wings are blurred, giving it the sense that its flying fast..the little plane near the river...the little puffs of clouds here and there.

great job. keep it up sweetie

I see what you mean, I totaly forgott the skys reflection in the river, that would be a fixer. The billowy clouds however do reflect but since the water is very shiney and such not much of it is visible, I made it sorta subtle. The non-redness of the landscape is a though one. I've tried upping the redness but I chose to go for a less monochrome look. I could give it a red fade towards the mountains though I guess... Will have to try it out and see how it works. Lightning on the seagull isn't perfect, you are right, but I thought it looked good enough too keep. The seagull is the main foreground peice in this and sorta where the title came from. I guess it covers the rest up a little bit but.. still worth it for the foreground/background effect i think. Anyway, thanks for the c&c! Glad you like it!

as absolutly beautiful as this picture is its still missing a few details that keep it from being a masterpeice. for instance the refection of the clouds on the water, and land. coulda used a small over lay of red. lighting on the seagul is missplaced, and it kinda steals the stage from the rest of the work. other then that its freekin beautiful. this is going in as a fav ^^
