That is the delight of fantasy games. One does not have to worry about anatomy for compatibility.

I think it was Philip Jose Farmer who had a series with some gigantic space station as life form. It ruled like a cruel god, creating creatures like harpies and centaurs that continually warred by genetic disposition. The centaurs had it both fore and aft. Fore was for love matches. Aft was well for anybody. That was however a rather minor part of the story. Not sure if it was Farmer though.
I construe fantasy as a necessary part of logic. See under Lakoff and Johnson. Imagination is necessary for new ideas. It does not throw logic out the window. So, the question must still be resolved. How did they do it? It is your artistic responsibility! It wasn't adopted. Oh wait. I got it. Driders do it oral. It is now official.
