Description
Hope.Something humans do when they can't influence a certain instance directly. They hope that some divine intervention will occur and save the life of their loved one, or that this person or that will be elected President over the other, or selfishly even: that God will grant them all the riches in the world.
Humans are often shocked to find that hope never fails to fail them.
But then again, humans have emotions, and these emotions prevent their egos from taking the brunt of the recoil; therefore, leaving it intact.
Has anyone ever realized that this is a redundant endeavor; hope?
By hoping because you have no power otherwise, you are therein negating any positive effect hope could possibly incur. It's a living oxymoron; a bitter-sweet irrationality.
There are certain things in life that can, by no means, be avoided; like death, sickness (however minute), heartbreak, natural disasters, disappointment. Yet, humans will consistently turn to a nonexistent deity or some higher force, or even their inner self, with hope that something will or will not occur. For what though?
Any time that hope succeeds, it is merely a coincidence.
You hope that your house, already smoldering from an arson's work, will somehow make it through with most of your belongings intact. Let's say it does; does this mean that God acted in your favor? No. Does it mean that your will power somehow brought about that sudden downpour to valiantly rescue your house from its fiery bondage? No. What it means is that the manner in which the arson sparked the fire led to certain areas of your house not being burned as badly as others, and that that rain-storm was already in place and just happened to land in your area during your fire. If you don't believe me, and still wish to assume that the house was saved by your act of hope, then ask yourself this: Why was the fire put out midway through? Did your hope need time to come to a boil before it could bring about the rain? Is this God's punishment for leaving out a burning cigarette; burning down your house? Wouldn't that be a bit extreme, no matter how material a house is? What if you're a poor old man, and you have no insurance, no way of paying for repairs; is this just a punishment from God, as well?
The plot thickens.
Everyone has separate views, yes; but, refusing to see the argument within another's is just as stupid an idea as it is a fallibility to hope for an impossible outcome.

That's exactly why.
It's like society is the web browser, and religion is an add-on meant to improve it.
too bad this add-on slows it down and causes this browser to crash too often.

Aren't metaphors wonderful?
And honestly, nothing in this world matters at all, technically, so why have opinions about anything? Doesn't change how we all die; it changes how the next generations will live. That's it.

You're confusing me with your words... lol.
I didn't understand what you just said.
All I got was that you think that previous generations were superficial, which isn't what I was talking about...
My point was that nothing matters unless there is meaning GIVEN to it. Meaning is never inherent.
