Does it have new plots. For each episode or is there an overarching plot?

its new plots for each book with new characters each book. however on some occasions they use the same characters from a past story.
They tend to jump around in its history, so its fine to go out of order...like i did xD

both. theres a large book series that spanned 30 years, and there was a 3 season show. if we were talking about the show...
with the show each season was one book:
Redwall (season 1)
Mattemeo (season 2)
Martin the Warrior (season 3)
you can watch them out of order, its not that big of a deal, but the mostly share the same characters.
