Description
This pixelart shows the moving castle from the awesome movie " Howl´s moving Castle" by Studio Ghbibli /Haya MiyazakiI love those films soooo much *-*
This pixelart was BY WAY the one with the most effort .
I estimate the buildingtime to 25Hours !
That had several reasons:
-the huge size
- the complexity
-the pattern was wery sloppy, so it was difficult to "read"
- the pixelart has many extremities. And because of that you have to be careful how and with what stones to build it
-i had to search many more stones in my drawer to extend the amount of brown, darkRed and also black.
I even had to search many black plates and the press 3 identical ones to one stone !
I´m going to Lego-hell for this XD

This is AMAZING! (Idk what your possibilities are, but I'd find it great if you could take your pictures in front of a neutral background? Like maybe a piece of cloth or the back of a poster? I believe the photo should be part f the "art" too)
edit: nothing against the simpsons poster, that's great too!
edit2: I am so weird. I just saw that you actually have a piece of cloth. How come you don't use it for everything?

Thank you very much
you asking some very clever questions^^
First of all i´m very lazy person. i absolutl love making pixelarts, but everything else is "work" XD
Right about now i have only one cloth (white) and until i get myself another one (maybe dark blue) , i d0n´t use the white cloth not on pixelarts that are mostly white themself.
But for "Howls Moving Castle" it was just too big for my white cloth i would have had to completly rearrange the white cloth.

Ahhh thank you.
There is just so much to look at, and the background just distracts. Really, really nice pixelart though.

I have o way to measure this, but i would guess this pixelart took 6000 pixels.

thank you very much
I would have used the white background, but it was too small XD And the pixelart is way to unstable to to do somethinh else behind it, now that its finished^^

A bed sheet is a good simple way to get a big backdrop for something like that. You can always build in supports behind it. Maybe you should invest into some clear bricks for supports that don't distract from the MOC itself.
I think if you got good photos of this it could easily get recognized by the various MOC blogs. If I didn't live overseas I'd offer my help as I've got the set up to take pictures of stuff like this.

yeah . I just should have changed my construct. the usual sheet is big enough. but for that giant building i would have to hang it on the wall another way.
I just was to inpationt. But before i would destroy the recent pixelart i can try to get the bedsheet behind it.
Surprisingly today i just got my hands on afew clear bricks
The support behind it is already very high ^^XD

how do you keep pixel art from falling over or falling apart?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ProfMadness In reply to kabhes [2016-08-24 21:48:25 +0000 UTC]
the key is pressure . you need to press every brick enough that it has a minimal fugue to the brick beyond.
its very important that you get a feeling on how the your power "flows" through the construct. Some of my older Pixelarts "exploded" halfway because i was pressing wrong. And so the power suddenly
turns your building into pieces.
Its also important that (at least at larger buildings) you think 2 or 3 rows above and look how the bricks lie and how to build the row (example to build a line of 5gray as 4+1 or 3+2)
I also have the (limited) ability to connect even two different colored pixels in a row directly.(i maybe make a deviation about this) Some black outlines of such strutures weren´t possible without this.
The reason why its not falling over is because its leaning on the wall behind it. Since i just use nearly all colored bricks i can get and turnd the usable side in front, my pixelarts look really strange on the backside. at Some pieces which make one pixel on the front, i use bricks 1x 10(or so) so they pierce out very long on the back.
That way all the other unusual stones can be build in, without having trouble with their legnth behind because the structure leans on all the 1x10bricks i buildt in ^^
I hope that was helpfull
Sounds complicate. IS complicated. But its not THAT important unless its a pixelart as gigantic as this^^
