Broken
That's what you said
Broken
With no hope of
Being whole
Convinced that life
Would never be anything but
What it was
And you were
Resigned to your fate

Broken
I cannot deny this
I have watched it happen
Despite all my efforts
I was only able to
Delay it
And perhaps give you
Some small measure of
Happiness
To make the pain
Bearable

Broken
But not forever
This I will deny
Everything broken can be
Put back together
Not the same of course
Nothing can ever be the same
But with enough care and
Unconditional Love
You can become whole
And perhaps better than you
Once were

Broken
You worry about what people will think
What they will see
Afraid that all they will notice
Are the breaks
Can't you see
Just how beautiful you are
Inside and out
Each broken facet
Shimmering like jewels
So lovely
Despite the breaks
Or rather more so
Because of them
