I dunno if it's just me, but in his degraded form, Genesis looks very similar to Dante from Devil May Cry.

*SPOILER* His story's so heartwrenchingly bittersweet. He came all that way and did so much just to break what Shinra did to him....no, sir, Genesis, after that, you're not ALLOWED to die.
This particular shot, though, caught me off guard when I was playing CC...almost dropped my PSP. Strange how the four years Zack and Cloud were in the tanks, Gen's degradation seemed to slow down. That or it just has a massively fast onset and slows later...that's a painful death if I ever thought of one.

My poor Genesis... I swear I've never cried more on a video game. First Angeal, then Zack, then Genesis and Sephiroth's end and I just couldn't handle this game...

As he continues to degrade his hair turns more and more white and his clothes fade in color until you see him as he is there. It's more of a sign that he's getting closer and closer to death then anything else.
