After many years of the Supra nameplate going missing, Toyota have finally brought back their famous sports car. Like many expected, the 2020 Toyota Supra takes it's form from the Toyota FT-1 concept car from 2014, a striking look which mostly remains intact for the new Supra. Whilst it may share most of its underpinnings with the newly released BMW Z4, Toyota is claiming the new Supra is their expression of the ultimate modern sports car.Related content

2019: 26 years has passed, 6hp increase, the Supra loses to a 718 in the same class.
No longer can fight an NSX, or a GT-R, or any sort of new Ferrari.

I beat up to a GT-R Nismo with my Supra.
The Supra isn't a supercar, it's a sports car with the balance of fun driving and everyday use.

In GT Sport? well yeah, bots are extremely slow imo.
In GT6 I have literally beaten a R390 with an EK9 Civic, if that doesn't tell you something I don't know what does.
Here's the problem though, it's marked for people who want to have fun but it has an automatic.
Everyday use but it's still more expensive and less practical than an 86.
It just misses the mark of being a Supra, which was supposed to be like a high level exotic sports car that people loved.
The LFA is just more of a Supra than the A90 is.
They could have just made more LFAs, badge engineered that and make it into the FT1, call it the Supra, and there ya go.
Better Supra.
Like hell, nobody can complain really, Toyota will have a happy wallet because it's a rebadge.
People would be happy because more LFAs, there are only 500 LFAs in the world and having an FT1 in production is just a good excuse to make more!
I always loved the FT1 mirrors too, so yes I'm interested if Toyota were to make that xD

Some people just don't like manual transmissions.
At least Toyota didn't pull a Mitsubishi!
The LFA was a great car, but too few were made! I wished it was mass produced like the GT-R.

That's very questionable though, stick shift manual is #1 most important factor for a fun car.
You haven't lived until you drive a stick shift car, the sense of having the full control of the car is just unmatched with anything else.
Sure paddle shifters are faster, but they just remove the clutch and with that comes a much more linear, restricted, and overall less engaging experience.

Like I said, if the FT-1 was produced, at least it would be a very good excuse to make more LFAs.
It would make more sense if they made the S-FR with that too, the kei sports car market is tiny, we only have the Copen and the S660.
The S-FR would just make a good comeback of the Sports 800 (Yota-Hachi).

I would have loved it when it would have looked a bit more like the FT-1 (front and rear look a bit narrow to me). On the other hand I'm glad that they made the car relatively short and that they looked for a neutral weight distribution. In the end it's a beauty.
