As part of my college application portfolio, I had to create an original character, draw a character turnaround and make a prop for them. I think I might have spent more time than was expected on this particular assignment... But I really like how she came out.

Ria is an orca - specifically a Type D orca, a rare kind of orca spotted off the coast of New Zealand, which is where Ria lives. (A notable characteristic of Type D orcas is the very small white patches on their faces, which in this case make up Ria’s eyebrows). She’s an avid surfer, and her best friend is a Kakapo named Ari, who I also made a sheet for.
