This is a redesign to an earlier sketch I made a while back. The Imperium-class. Here, I decided to give it a much needed redesign to make it more like an actual ship of the Galactic Empire.

This is the Sovereign-class Star Destroyer. Commissioned by the Galactic Empire to serve as a 'Stealth Warship' for strategic operations and to act as a proper command ship to battlegroups that aren't overseen by Executor-class Star Dreadnoughts(as in canon, there were only 13 or so Super Star Destroyers) The Sovereign was named after Grand Moff Tarkin's Imperial I-class Star Destroyer which was destroyed over Mustafar during the Rescue of Kanan Jarrus. Over three times the size of a typical Star Destroyer with five times the fire power, the Sovereign had new and advance weapons, engines, and technologies that were by 1 ABY, only in experimental stages. However, despite its highly advance nature, only the actual prototype was ever built and refitted during the Galactic Civil War. After it was commissioned into Imperial service, all materials and engineering that were meant to build more members of the class were redirected by order of the Emperor to build the second Death Star. As a result, the Sovereign was the only one of its class in service during the war and fall of the Galactic Empire. For many, it was believed that if more Sovereign-class Star Destroyers were introduced as they should've, the very ship might had made a major difference for the Empire during the war. But that was never the case. The Sovereign fought many battles during the war and has always prove to be a powerful ship against the Rebel Alliance and eventually the New Republic. The Sovereign would be hunted after the Battle of Jakku by New Republic forces, but would escape and joined the few Imperial forces left who reorganized to become the First Order. Many of its designs and technologies would be used and studied to make the First Order's Resurgent-class Star Destroyer.
