Description
~Anglu wanted to see these, so I did them up on PowerPoint so I could post them (instead of waiting until Christmas, when I could get the ones I already didI decided they'd have a Spaceship-Class cruiser instead of a larger Starship-Class, to be more like the real SW-Universe Hawk.
__________
FOR THE UN-INITIATED:
In the Classic Trek era, every starship had it's own "badge" that the crewpeople wore. That way, you could tell which ship someone was stationed on just by looking at their badge. The USS Enterprise of course had the iconic "arrowhead" badge, the USS Exeter had an elogated rectangle, the USS Constellation had a pretzel sort of shape, etc. So yeah...this one's mine.

Oh yes. Many times. Without cheats, with cheats, as a boy, as a girl, as a sith and a jedi, I've even modded some of the skins to look more natural. ;D

Wow!! I've only played the first KotOR once, because as dumb as it sounds, it was a very emotional experience for me and I feel like repeating it would override those feelings, lol. However I HAVE played KotOR II about a thousand times, for when I need to get my KoTOR fix. I've actually gotten 100% rep with Kreia WITHOUT gaining any Dark Side points, once!

Wow! that's hard to do... Krea's kinda the uber-kreepy manipulative sith type.... It's weird she would like a goodie.

Well, you just pick the answers you think she'd like that aren't 100% evil. Sometimes you don't have a good choice, so you have to lose some influence points, but you're always able to gain them later. I should have taken notes at the time...
Either way, Kreia was my favorite character from that game, so that's why I worked for 100% influence.

wow... Kreia was your favorite? You're the first person i've met... I personally liked Bao-Dur. Have you ever gotten him to be a jedi?

LOL really? Wow...well, I just really like old people and I think they're awesome, especially when they're badass like Kreia and can still fight and stuff. Plus she was the only one who I could listen to drone on and on about anything and not get sick of hearing her, because she had an awesome old-person voice, lol!
Bao-Dur...wow, I didn't even know you COULD get him to be a Jedi. To be honest, I kind of ignore the other characters other than T3 and Kreia.

yeah, her voice is so kreepy it's awesome. She's like, the perfect female Sith lord.
Actually all the characters in the second game aside from the droids and Mandalore can be turned into Jedi... Disciple, Atton, Bao-dur, Handmaden, Mira, etc.

Definately! And if you think about it, she's really the ONLY female Sith lord (fanboy fanservices like Darth Talon don't count, and she's just a Sith, not a Sith lord). Whoa, really? Geez, I never realized that. I guess I should focus on more characters other than T3 and Kreia, lol! Next time I play I'm going to try to turn them ALL into Jedi, just to see if I can...

I've turned everybody into a jedi at one time or another... i had one game once where i got everyone to be a jedi except Mira... the only thing is, it's hard have enough time to get the last party member you get to become a jedi before you face the final level. Having as many jedi as possible is a HUGE help in the final level, though, when you have to use them individually.
The key with Atton is to take him to the Nar Shadda refugee sector, and with Bao-Dur you have to take him to... Duxin, i believe. I could be wrong about that one. I don't remember any of the other triggers right this second. It's largely about taking the right characters to the right triggers. Try to think of places the characters might have a strong emotional response to or where they might have old enemies or friends.

Time isn't an issue here, don't worry.
I need a badge for my USS Liberator from my Officer's Logs series. I named it after the B-24 bombers in WW2 and I can't seem to get the right design.

Hmm, that gives me a good starting point. I have a few badge designs already finalized that I have in case people need any; you can browse them and tell me which ones you like, and if you don't want any of them, I'll design one up for you.

The different badges for each ship were a nice touch for the original series. I wish they had kept them for TNG and beyond, the uniforms look a little bland without that touch of variety.

Thanks!! I definately agree with you there. I think it's kind of silly to reason that "Well, the Enterprise was so famous that Starfleet used it's mission badge as the logo for ALL of Starfleet." The Enterprise was really nothing special - there were other starships and other crews who were just as spectacular. I think it kind of puts them down.

Simple design, easy to make badges out of it, immediately recognisable as the Ebon Hawk's shape... Yeah, I definitely like it.
NC-1138... Did you forget the second 'C' or was that intentional?
Oh, I'll never forget the number 1138 again, for RC-1138 shares my opinion on Jedi and lightsabres.
Uh, where appeared that number in the movies? I've seen them a few dozen times (wildly speculating), but never saw 1138?

Yeah, I had a heck of a time trying and trying to come up with something hawk-shaped or SOMETHING - to no avail. It suddenly dawned on me that since their Star Trek Universe parallel of the "SS" Ebon Hawk looked different than the SW Universe version, I could just stylize the shape of it and use that.
Just like with my SS Benedict XVI, NC-155, I did the same with the Ebon Hawk. See, unlike the Enterprise which is a "Starship Class" vessel (Constitution-variant), the Benedict XVI and the Ebon Hawk are "Spaceship Class," like the SS Beagle from the TOS episode "Bread and Circuses." Since obviously the USS part is shortened to SS to denote Spaceship Class vessels, since they're smaller, less advanced craft, I figured that maybe the NCC part would be shortened, too.
Seeing them all together might make it clearer:
USS Enterprise, NCC-1701 (Starship Class, Constitution-variant)
SS Benedict XVI, NC-155 (Spaceship Class, Papal-variant)
SS Ebon Hawk, NC-1138 (Spaceship Class, Falcon-variant)
1138 has appeared in every Star Wars movie, as well as a few Indiana Jones movies and other movies that Lucas has been involved with. It's a reference to "THX-1138," one of Lucas' first movies that he ever made. [link] )

That with THX-1138, I read on Wookieepedia, but I never found that number in the movies. Can you give me a hint, where to look?

Promus-Kaa In reply to Colonel-Azzameen [2009-01-02 05:50:38 +0000 UTC]
Well, I think the article had them all listed, so they should be right there...
But 1138 appears in "A New Hope" when Princess Leia is held in Death Star Cellblock 1138. For ESB, you have to add two numbers to make 1138, and for ROTJ, Booshh's helmet has 1138 painted on the side of it. 1138 appears on the back of a Battle Droid's powerpack in "The Phantom Menace" (the one Jar-Jar knocks over and says "They're broken"), and it's somewhere in Episode II. I forget where it is in Revenge of the Sith, but the Wikipedia entry should have it listed.
Again, it's also in the Indiana Jones movies.

It's always annoying to see people doing badges for other ships in the TOS era, that are shaped like the ones on the Enterprise. Nice to see it when people remember that back in those days, each ship had it's own badge-design.

I feel ya! It annoys me when people apply TNG standards to TOS, especially when it's tech-related. It just implies that they don't realize how detailed, nuanced, and fully developed the TOS Universe was, if they think they have to "fill in" everything with TNG garbage.

Ahaa, here they are! Thank you for not waiting until chrismas *gg*
Well, they look like the Hawk from top view...
Does the 1138 mean anything or did you just pick some numbers?

Promus-Kaa In reply to Anglu [2008-10-30 15:46:36 +0000 UTC]
Sure thing!!
I borrowed the Hawk's profile, made it symmetrical and simplified it a bit.
The 1138 should be familiar to any Star Wars fan!! There's a "1138" in every single Star Wars movie - it's a reference to one of Lucas' early films, "THX-1138." They also will put it in Star Wars-related games from time to time; one of the characters in "Republic Commando" has a serial number with "1138" in it.
1138 also shows up in other Lucas movies, like the Indiana Jones movies.
