Description
I'm particularly proud of this one!! When designing this one, I tried to keep the idea "rolling concentration camp" in my mind. Listening to the Dalek Theme from the Doctor Who Original Television Soundtrack helped, too!!Unlike my Soviet Cyberman, this one has more of a backstory. After the events of the Third Series Doctor Who episode "Daleks in Manhattan," the people of Hooverville took the destroyed husks of Daleks Thay and Jast, along with the human Dalek blasters, and buried them deep inside the sewers. They were forgotten about.
However, the "failed" Dalek embryos created by the Cult of Skaro were not so "failed" after all; they were able to grow into adult Daleks, and using the technology available to them, built new Dalek suits using the husks of Thay and Jast as templates. It took many years to rebuild, but they were able to make more Dalek creatures and more suits.
After this time of building their forces, the Daleks were prepared to go out and conquer Earth. Before they did so, however, World War II broke out. The Daleks realized that their mission of conquest would be made much easier if they allied themselves with the Nazis, who had a similar goal of world conquest. After helping the Nazis take over the world, they would turn on their German allies and take the conquered world from them.
I had fun putting the Nazi signage on the Dalek; all the symbols were inspired by what I've seen on Nazi uniforms and helmets. The lettering on its base says "Caution - Jet Blast," as these Daleks are able to fly (unlike my steampunk version). The rear propeller, used to push it forward through the air while airborne, has the "cross" of the Nazi Air Force on it.
Oh, and the speech balloon reads, "Exterminate those who oppose the will of Hitler." In German, of course, written in the "Dalek font" that I downloaded from 1001fonts.com.
Also, just to be clear, I DO NOT support the Nazis OR their evil ideals.
Daleks are copyright of the Terry Nation Estate.

Well...you just haven't seen enough Classic Who. Once you do, and you realize what a travesty and an insult the New Series is, you'll wonder what the heck you were doing ever bothering to watch that blasphemous show!!

I really do hope you're joking! I have watched plenty of Classic Who thank you very much! I was watching The War Machines a couple of days ago and it admiring how fantastic it is. But the new series is also brilliant - far from a travesty and an insult!

Given that the Daleks in the Series 4 finale spoke German in one scene, this is appropriate.
Nazis, being real-life monsters (and Terry Nation's inspiration for the Daleks), make great science fiction fodder.
Recommended Reading: The Iron Dream by Norman Spinrad, which postulates what might have been if Adolf Hitler had been a pulp sci-fi writer.

Agreed! Nazis are so interesting because they're like something out of fiction (like the evil Empire from Star Wars...or the Daleks), but they were actually real!! It's weird how things so evil can be so intriguing.
I'll check out that book, thanks for the recommendation!!

lol Glad you like it!! Actually, the guy who created the Daleks (Terry Nation) said that the Nazis were an inspiration for the Daleks themselves. This is VERY obvious when you watch "Genesis of the Daleks" (also written by Terry Nation), in which the Kaleds (forerunners of the mutated Dalek creatures) even wear Nazi-esque uniforms.

I don't really watch much of New Who; I caught the first few seasons but it really lost my interest - it can't compare to the original.
What episode did they have German Daleks??

Apparently Daleks were actually based on Nazis. The filmakers wanted the public to dislike them, so they worked on a similar regime to the Germans. Also, in earlier Dalek episodes, the Daleks can be seen making 'Nazi salutes' with their plungers.
The picture is brilliant. Very technical, I like that.

Promus-Kaa In reply to Khanco [2008-07-10 02:49:47 +0000 UTC]
The Daleks were never very Nazi-like until the Tom Baker (Fourth Doctor) serial "Genesis of the Daleks," when the Kaleds (pre-mutant forms of the Daleks) were made to be very Nazi-like, down to their uniforms and behavioral characteristics.
The "early episodes" of the Daleks never did the "Nazi salute" thing, though - believe me, I've seen them!!
I'm very happy that you like the picture!!

Khanco In reply to Promus-Kaa [2008-07-10 09:14:33 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I've seen them too. In my opinion the earliest Dalek episodes were some of the best.
I only say about the Nazi salutes because of something I heard. I can't remember where. Either during one of the DVD inturviews or on the internet. Although it does look a little like it when the Daleks go through Trafalgar Square in 'The Dalek invasion of Earth'.

Oh definately!! The old Dalek episodes might not have had flashy, gratuitous CGI glitter or an overly epic soundtrack blazing over the dialogue like the New Series, but they were very atmospheric and well-acted by people who really knew their craft. In case you can't tell, I'm really not much of a fan of the New Series of Doctor Who...I'll take William Hartnell or Jon Pertwee over Tennant's skinny, annoying ass any day.
I figured you had heard it from somewhere - somehow, I could kind of tell from the way you phrased it. Which is why I wanted to kindly correct you for future reference.

Well, I'm not making the Dalek look good or anything...so I don't see how Jews wouldn't like it that much. Although these days with all this "political correctness" running rampant...I can't even post this on a Dalek forum because it's Nazi. I mean, it's not as though Terry Nation didn't say that the Daleks were BASED on the Nazis, a fact that is extremely obvious in "Genesis of the Daleks...."
