Well, they're both great American photographers. Weston was a member of the f/64 club, with Ansell Adams, and Mapplethorpe, though most infamous for his homoerotic work was a sublime user of light, especially in his still life work. If you don't know them, it is really worth looking them up. I think you'd love their work, and pick up some useful stuff.
