What are oil pencils? What sort of techniques do you use with them and what are their pros and cons?

The pencils I use are Pitt Oil Base pencils by Faber-Castell. They come in a variety of hardness from Very soft to Very Hard. I usually use Medium hardness. They are very matte, dark pencils which smudge nicely. I especially like them to use around the eyes. There are also sturdier than color pencils as they don't break as much when sharpening. They only come in black as far as I know.
Hope that answers your question.
