See this i like much more! Not because it isn't a trace, but because it's yours.  So immediately it's inherently better.  Now for feedback, I think the arms could be a bit longer, and the mouth reshaped as it looks like his tongue is blobbing into his mouth.  But a great attempt!  Keep up the great work and continue to strive to improve more and more.

Yeah, I drew it over (I always draw above another art, I am no good at creating poses), but the design and colors were defined way before I found Winter Man. You know, winter theme is not much different than using scarf and ear protectors, I even had a penguim design with same idea.
But, of course, you are right, I need to redraw and update this.
