I like the texture you used, the only critique I would have would be that the dark side should be black and the atmosphere should be masked out out. I also really like your star technique.

Yeah that atmosphere is a bit of an issue. It's a byproduct of the technique I use to create the planet and it's atmosphere. I still have yet to figure out if it's possible to get the far side dark in the render. I personally prefer not having to alter my renders in photoshop.
