Really interesting.
Are the "boxes" on their heads a reference to the "Bronze Box" of Tarterus (in Hades/Hell), where the deposed Titans were imprisoned by Zeus?

It's a really obscure reference -- the Titans were cast into the pit below even Hades called Tartarus. It was a realm of heat and darkness that was walled off by tall bronze walls and thus sometimes referred to as a bronze box. Not much difference from a walled fortress and a walled off prison I suppose, hence my mistaken guess.
Inspired piece of work, either way.
