Dorothy could return to Kansas any time using the Silver Shoes/Ruby Slippers. Glinda just didn't tell her "because she wouldn't have believed me" which is such excusatory cop-out bullshit, because if Dorothy could believe in talking apple trees, a dancing "brainless" Scarecrow, a humanoid Cowardly Lion, a Tin Man who lost his heart, and witches on all sides, she could believe in the magicked footwear being able to send her and Toto back home. Ultimately, she, Aunt Em, and Uncle Henry relocate to Oz permanently (Dorothy of Oz) & she Princess Ozma becomes bezzies to the point that they're practically dating (not unlike Elphie and Galinda before Fiyero & ElphieXFiyero "Son of a Witch" child Liir came between them). XD

I almost died laughing. The scary part is, I could totally see Glinda doing that. Watch Elphie show up to see either the Emerald City as the Pink City, or the Emerald City burned to the ground.

This is after Elphie dies. In the book, she melts for real and never comes back. In the musical, she is essentially forced to leave Oz with Fiyero, never to look back.

Things the book focused on. Oz was a corrupt political government. Elphie (R.I.P in book), Fiyero (R.I.P in book), and the Animals (Dr. Dillamond [R.I.P] & Cowardly Lion included) knew that.
