Merman!Subaru sketch for sealandangel for her merman!Subaru fic. (I was inspired by jellyfish. Can you tell?) Since Hokuto is the queen, I wanted to make him look like a little mer-prince, out exploring the seabed for knick knacks. I think I'm most pleased with the tail. JELLYFISH TAIL. Sorry there isn't Seishirou the pirate in this picture. I didn't wanna draw him out of the water because I can't draw wet hair. Besides, doesn't hair look so much better underwater?

I actually find Subaru hard to draw because I can never get his hair right? It doesn't quite look unmistakably like him. (I have recently developed an arm fetish and I'm kinda really happy with Subaru's shoulders here. Look at those amazing shoulders. I want shoulders like that. I still have this problem where my male bodies tend to turn out a little effeminate? I'm not entirely sure what exactly I do to make that happen. It usually pisses me off but I think it works well for Subaru. His hair was SO MUCH FUN. I just went crazy and then later I was like oops I think that's a little too much detail for a sketch.)

His tail is going to be white, and the dangly bits are going to be a deep, deep red. Like those red and white jellyfishes. The spots are supposed to be little gems because he's a little mer-prince! I finished the sketch last night and am attempting to color now. I kinda hate coloring sigh. If I get too frustrated I might just lineart it.
