Confident: He's far too confident for his own good, he won't back down from a fight even if it could mean his death, because he "knows" that he will win eventually, nothing is as strong and sturdy as him. Their bodies and wills are weak, his aren't.
Observant: He would never admit it but he observes the others on a daily basis and notices immediately if something is off.
Family-Oriented: He'd do anything to keep his family safe, he's a little too protective though - but he's always trying to steer them away from danger and mistakes.
Tough: Won't complain about hard work or bad conditions, the Weimaraner doesn't care if someone hate his guts or not. He does whatever he wants, if they hate him for that, so be it.

Biography
Before Island Croatoan

Lel, an ordinary Australian Shepard who lived happily with his owner and their family in Slovakia, spent several years of his life herding the animals of their rather small farm. Lel was well-loved by his family, they took good care of him and even teached him some tricks, but unfortunately one day Lel developed a brain tumor, though his owners never found out. He attacked their youngest son and therefore they put him in a (killing) shelter, no longer wanting to keep such an "agressive" dog. Weeks went by before some researcher paid the shelter a visit and took many of the dogs with them, bringing the dogs to the secret military research facility on the Island Croatoan.

The Facility

Thank to his breed and intelligent, Lel was one of the first dogs to be experimented on with the intention to create an organic being with skills like telepathy or telekinese, but all their experiments were failures, after many years they tried to force the abilites to come out by inflicting pain, they started by taking Lel's eyes, ears and nails, hoping that his new-found disability would encourage the chemicals to work, since many of his senses had been taken, but this proved to be another failure. They dumped the test subject Lel and moved him over to the gene manipulation laboratory, where a certain scientist named Nikolaj worked on a new project.

They planted parts of the genetically modified fungal parasites (Ophiocordyceps unilateralis) into him and a few the other dogs, but the foreign body was quickly destroyed by the dogs' immune system. Another few years went by before the parasite was able to think, act on its own and to overcome one's immune system, soon the scientists realized that the parasite was too strong for anyone to handle, it killed its host before they could become a symbiosis, but the scientist did not give up and created another version of the fungus parasite.

Unfortunately, the parasite mutated in a way the humans couldn't control, it grew and became stronger way too quickly and soon it managed to attack humans, infecting them with its spores and eventually killing them, soon the spores spread to the kennel and contaminated them and the test subjects. Nearly every dog died that was infected with the parasite, except Lel, the parasite's former body, a male Weimaraner, broke down in front of the blind and skinned animal, leaving the parasite with no other choice than to connect with the half-dead dog. Lel survived the painful procedure but he lost all his memories as the parasite placed its roots inside his brain and neural system. Lel started to call himself Nikolaj and his parasite LEW.

The Hellbreed

After the outbreak he lived many months in a pack called "Hellbreed", where he became the leader of the "Sourcing" Squad, though he didn't get along with the other members, many were scared of him or grossed out by his ability, but he wasn't the nicest person either, he often attacked others and lashed out at them. The Weimaraner wasn't well liked by the other members, but he did not care about that, though the alpha of the pack respected Nikolaj he was forced to punish the disrespectful dog a few times. One day Niko got quite sick because of a tumour inside his stomach, he was close to dying when a wolf of the Leviathan pack found Nikolaj and took care of him. The Weimaraner survived, soon they started to meet in secret, teaching each other some things. Zaya teached him the basic of herbs and Nikolaj showed the blind wolf how to hunt small prey. They fell in love quite fast and mated, breaking the laws of their packs. four out of five pups survived, they decided to keep their heritage a secret but were caught meeting each other by a few members of the Hellbreed. Both were attacked, Zaya and the unborn pups nearly killed by two members. The Alpha decided to punish Nikolaj one last time by treating him like a prisoner. Months later, still not being accepted by his pack members Nikolaj brought two pups to the Leader of the pack, his own, Sheila and Nayati, the Hellbreed accepted these two as their own, though they weren't happy about the fact that they were "half-bloods". Len and Lexy, Niko's other pups, stayed in Leviathan with their mother, though they weren't well-liked either.

All four half-bloods were later killed by the Levianthan, the god of the wolves.

Sidra

Rosalia, who has become close friends with the prisoner, had a plan to leave the Hellbreed to create a new neutral pack, called "Sidra", Nikolaj left with her and so they both became the alphas of Sidra. A shelter for the lost one. Zaya, Niko's mate, joined them. In Sidra they began to have a peaceful and quiet life, they got another pup, which they named Rowan, but after two years Nikolaj's mate suddenly died while they were sleeping in their den. He never got to know the truth but ever since then he was a changed man.
