Description Do you want an animal companion, or do you just want to own some creature as an accessory? Adoption/rescue centers offer, on average a healthy and more socialized pet. Also, you avoid some of the risk of supporting a horrible breeding program.

Do the research before you make the promise to keep and raise an animal.

I love this piece. It reminds me of when I adoped my dog at North Shore Animal League. There was a cage with a couple of kittens playing.

I went to pink machine gun to check it out but it says its "coming soon", do you know when the site will be up?

I'm sorry to say, they are in the process of trying to release something very high quality, which means they are either still learning new tricks, or they are revamping what is in the works to get it just right.

This is no club of amateurs were dealing with here, and I'm guessing the final product will be worth the wait.

But for now, I've only seen some of their product runs. No actual deadlines set for releases yet.

I'll keep reminding people with each t-shirt design I post, and when the site is up and running, I'll be sure to make noise about that too.

This is one of my favorites. It's so simple, yet completely settles the feeling of animals needing to be adopted.

I see you added a yellow watermark. It looks better without it, but I know too many people steal from deviantartists.

pseudo-manitou In reply to story [2008-04-01 14:22:54 +0000 UTC]

The reason it has a yellow watermark is because the design is under contract now.

Soon I will be able to offer a link to where people can purchase a t-shirt of this design.

We adopted both our cats from the local SPCA. I had a difficult time choosing only two -- I wanted to take them all home! They all stare at you imploringly and mew in the form of a question and desperately try to touch you through the bars... it does a number on the heartstrings! You really conveyed that feeling with this image! Shelter pets are so grateful to have a home. I can't say enough about the benefits of adopting and how the shelters strive to place each pet in the home best suited for it.

Our cats were depressed and stressed from their time at the shelter, but they've adjusted into happy, healthy, and wonderfully affectionate pets since then! Someday when we have more space, we plan to continue to add to the family via the SPCA.

That's wonderful!! I adopted one of my cats and the other one was a stray that ended up on our back porch, so yeah! I don't think I can ever buy a cat from a breeder!! Or a pet shop!!!!

And don't treat the animal like it's a retarded child.

I wish I could adopt something right now...but I live with an akita(yep, one from a dog store -_-) and she'd attack anything that's not human.

Also, on a another upside: Your saving an animal from being euthanized as well as saving $1000 by adopting an animal rather than buying it from a breeder or pet store.

What a terrible and shocking true...

Love, life.
A house, a family.
Persons, animals.
All we have the same laws, the same rights.
All we need love and comprehension.
All the beeings in the world are feeling the same, so, why there's always people making diferences???

Live, and let love.

This is simply awesome. For some reason I absolutely love the fact that the heart is also inside the cage.

Having adopted two (first timid and semi-feral but now social and happy) cats from the local shelter I totally support the message. You can find real pearls there, and it's a great feeling to know you can help an animal that has been throught tough times.

Good poster and good message below it. Hope it does some good.

I have two cats (the most you can legally have in the city I live in). Both were adopted. One wound up with some sort of degenerative bone disease that eventually required two surgeries. Unfortunately these ultimately failed and he'll eventually have to be put down once he begins suffering.

I wound up taking out a loan for the first surgery and refinancing my car for the second. Most people have questioned why I would do that much for a cat. I can't understand why I would be expected to do anything less. I made the commitment when I adopted him and I could manage the loans so I did what I had to do. Would I do it again? Hell yeah!

So far he's lasted much longer than my vet or the specialists thought he would last. He even seems better now that the weather has warmed up, although I know that it's just a matter of time. The time I bought him with the surgeries was well worth the money.

Word. I personally think only professional, accredited breeders and the SPCA should exist with no in between. Pet stores are the devil... Although personally I don't think I would ever buy a purebred. Well - except adopting a greyhound, but that adopting.

I got my dog from a shelter 11 years ago. It's moving into an old car dealership for bigger space.

This most definitely would make a good ad anywhere.

My first reaction to this was "Awwwwwww, I want one!"
This is beautiful! The image is so clean and slick it could be an advertisement (I know some people have already mentioned this but I thought I'd say it again ).

How do you like doing kitty fostering? I'm thinking about doing that next year, but I dont know if I'd want to part with them after I've bonded with them <3

pseudo-manitou In reply to XXanthos [2007-03-08 02:42:14 +0000 UTC]

My wife sometimes has trouble breaking from them. But we have two of our own cats, so that softens the stress.

Otherwise, we really enjoy it. It really keeps the home active.

Heya,
I love this, being a cat owner myself.
But I'm wondering about the text placement. ON my monitor it comes out with less impact than you want because the text bleeds right off the bottom.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pseudo-manitou In reply to exquisiteoath [2007-03-07 02:10:36 +0000 UTC]

I tried putting the text closer to the cage... it didn't work until the cage itself had a kicker behind it -- and that was just too cluttered.

Truth is, it'd work best without the text at all -- but I had to spell this one out.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

exquisiteoath In reply to pseudo-manitou [2007-03-07 23:45:38 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I think if there's some way to avoid the text that would be best, but it's not really self-evident is it?
