Description Well, I've decided that I just had to do something about the lack of content on my site. And I did promise you that I'd be doing more detailed metamorphoses in the future especially with the hands. So here it is! A Morph between a human hand and a dog's paw.

Resources:

I've used the hand from the MakeHuman project ([link] ) which allows me to freely use its mesh as long as I say...

Human hand mesh:

I've also based my morph target using the image provided with Goldenwolf's paw drawing tutorial ([link] ).

This has been my most advanced 3d Transformation so far as of 7/7/06. It incorporates multiple materials, vertex groups, material keys, and shape keys. This animation would have included the use of fur through the use of blender's particle system and controlling it through the use of wheight paint to modify the length and density of the fur, which sureley would have been a treat for you if you saw fur sprouting through the skin. Unfortunately, I do not know an ipo curve for the transition between the two values of weight paint and thus cannot controll the ability for this model to sprout fur.

My favorite part of the Transformation is the claws... but that's probbably just me.

Anyways... Please spill fourth your thoughts on this animation! I'd like to know what you think of it!

Ah too cool!, want more! I love the pads, only one problem where is the slip pad?

And this hands look like they are a black persons.

Nice. Then it would only work this way if the transformation concept is about man to full wolf ,wich means from a large body (normal human) to smaller one ... a shrinkring process.
Now if the paws would in same scale than human hand the process would be different with hands streetching instead what you've done. And I'd look further to see if yo do this hehe , take care and good job.

TO LoboLeo:

Why thank you! Now as for the transformation... It is based on shape keys. Shape keys store vertex positions for each state of a single mesh. Now if I had the references and the general Idea of how I wanted it to transform, I coud go from human->werewolf.

To ALL:

As for my fur script... it does work, but not exactly in the way I wish for it to work. I'm currently stuck with uniform transitions from 0% to 100%. If fixed, the user can paint his/her vertex weights and smoothly transition between them.

How my script works...

When it starts up, it checks to see if there are any similar proccesses running. If so, it increments the count of the running script. Otherwise, it sets up some system-level variables and registers a frame-handler script that would execute each frame.

The frame handler script takes a list of all the system-level variables and does all the hard work of transitioning between weight paint values per vertex. It is executed per frame and happens in the background. An example System-level variable name would be... "OBJECT_VertGroup_0_100" and is used to help the frame handler script understand the specifics of what to change and during what frames.

To use the application, you must register the object name and vertex group in which it is to affect. Then, you define the start and end frames of the transition. After that, move to the beginning frame, paint your weight values, and capture your start state. Finally, go to your last frame, paint your weight values, and capture the state at the last frame.

To enable this transition in real-time and during rendering, toggle the enabled button. While enabled, if done correctly, you should notice as the frame is changed, that the weight values are changing. This is most certainly usefull for the effect of growing fur during some kind of transformation.
