I just think Toriel (and the fandom) is unfair to Asgore. She kinda acts like shes the only one who lost 2 kids. Yeah, he killed 6 humans (presumably children), but he honestly thought they were dangerous to monsters. Which, isn't too far off, seeing as you can literally wipe out everyone p quickly in a genocide run. He also canonically doesnt and didnt want to have to kill anyone. He made his mistakes, thinking he was protecting his people.I just want Toriel to forgive him. The blood on his hands probably weighs so heavy on his mind. I'm glad in the true pacifist ending that they seem to be on relatively good terms at least.Β

Asgore but realistic...
"Hmm, let's see, I have three choices... I can either A. Sacrifice a few members of the rival clan that imprisoned my clan underground, should those few bumble down here... B. Let my hundreds, thousands, possibly more of my own people stay and rot. Or I could do C. Kill only one rival, pass through the barrier, kill a few more, which I'm sure would cause another war between us and them and my son died in his attempt to do so.
You know, fuck my wife's wishes. Option A for life. If she really wanted better, she could've bucked up before leaving me when I need her the most."

I really love these two characters and I think it's sad that we don't really know if Toriel is gonna forgive him someday :/ but I hope ^^

There are 2 factors Toriel doesn't seem to think about.
1: Her experience with humans have only been limited to one child, Chara. So she doesn't know how violent many humans can get when they see something different looking. Asgore or any of the other monsters wouldn't of lasted twelve hours on the outside to get the needed souls if they did what she suggested.
2: Their tech might not work outside the barrier, rendering the soul containers useless. And we don't know what would happen if the monsters used their own bodies to house the souls outside the safety of the barrier.

I feel that, considering that Toriel and Asgore are working at the same school at the end, they're beginning to make it up to each other.

I totally agree with you. I mean it's not like he wanted to kill anyone! He was grieving for his children for Pete's sake! I'm hoping with time Toriel will see that and forgive him.

The perfect examples are nautral endings where we kill some monsters and Papyrus/Undyne. I mean rebelion isn't something that formed overnight so Toriel probably ignored for some amount of time that her people dosen't want peace with humans.Β

I think Toriel was able to forgive Asgore, and even still loves him, and will give him another chance (especially when Asriel told Frisk to take care of the two of them), so they can't stay apart forever. After all, from the looks of the true pacifist end, Toriel lets Asgore be the school's groundskeeper. ^^

There is a theory that Asgore wasn't the one who killed the six of the humans, but they all died the same area where their items were found, killed by the monsters in that area. But even if others monsters killed them, Asgore was still the one who made the orders.
But I agree, the fandom are totally unfair with Asgore. They don't see things through his perspective.Β

Asgore wanted the Underground to have hope after his children "died". I just can't undertstand why Toriel doesn't see that. I like Toriel, but the way she's acting around Asgore pisses me off.

Asgore is the best character to me.
I mean, he's definitively not a bad person. Yes he does some errors, but think about that, in the true pacifist path, Toriel told than if Asgore really wanted to fight, he'll use one human soul, to pass the barrier, and come back after gather more souls at the surface, for free his kingdom and attack the mankind.
What do he does ? Stay on his kingdom, waiting for humans to come, because he is a pacifist. And, even I don't remember saw this, I'm pretty sure he's ashamed by his sins, like begin the war against humanity, kill the human who fell, and giving (kinda) "false hope" to his kingdom.
The thing I wanted to say, is than Asgore could be more evil if he wanted to. He get the possibility to free his kind from the underground, and who would blamed him for that ? The majority won't care, they want to be free, apart Toriel. But Asgore don't get the motivation, he doesn't want to fight, just to be a good king, and even if their is the weights of all of his sins, he assumed, and make a better world for his subjects, even if he's going to loose his good feelings, and that's why I think Asgore could be a not pacifist, but a good neutral person.
Does Toriel is doing right with Asgore ? I don't know... Toriel is the most pacifist character I though. So I can't understand why she can't forgive Asgore. I mean, she lost her two son too ! I can imagine than she wouldn't be aggresive against the humans after this, but if she could understand than humans could act because of a impulsion (because if you see someone or some animals with a dead human body, don't lie, you'll be at least affraid of him, a little), why she can't understand than Asgore as do the same thing ? Sure, there's some years who passed, but with your wife and kids off, how will you act ?

Asgore was put in a really awful position. He declaired war out of grief. The humans pretty much destroyed his world with the only remaining rock of stability being his wife. And then she left him. Yeah, when you stop looking at Toriel as some angel who can do no wrong, you can kinda see just how lousy she was to Asgore and her entire kingdom. Regardless of how she felt about the war declaration, she should not have abandoned her kingdom, she's not the only one to grieve and she didn't have the right to just drop her responsibility and run.

I wish Toriel would forgive Asgore, too, and I'm so glad there are people who feel the same way. I mean, this game lets you spare FLOWEY, for crying out loud! THat's the only way you can get the True Pacifist ending after all. And everyone's so quick to forget Flowey because "OMG Goatbro is best bro" and "OMG Asriel's so cute!!11!1", but when it comes to Asgore, who is far less worse than Flowey, it's, "He deserves to be hated because he's a murderer SansxToriel=OTP" (even though Toriel's just as guilty of murder as Asgore). Not saying Asgore didn't make mistakes, but that's just the thing. People make mistakes, and no one, not even precious little Goatmom, is perfect. This is just so refreshing, that's all I gotta say.

Now wait just a tiny second here! This is also Toriel's fault as well! Ever since she became "disgusted" with Asgore's aggressive behavior, she literally left her duty as a QUEEN, thereby not giving a flying rat's ass for her own people, apart from that she even has the NERVE to not forgive Asgore? Pardon me here, but a King and a Queen are a fateful duo that are thoughtfully meant to soothe the monster population, by caring and stabilizing the order of things around and she just leaves EVERYTHING up to Asgore, not even taking into consideration the reasonable fact that he was suffering from the deaths of their own children! That's basically a twisted dagger that stabbed poor Asgore's heart into millions of pieces ;-;, instead of mainly remaining there for the sake of changing Asgore's own view point and by eventually leading to convince him that just that one SOUL would've been sufficient, after the first death!(After all a King represents the font of Strength and Authority, basically the ORDER, while the Queen represents stability and benevolence)
Yup, blame it on Toriel for this one. SHAME. ON. TORIEL!

Wow I thought I was the only one who thought this about Asgore, glad to see I'm not! But I agree. I wish the Fandom wouldn't treat him like this. He does deserve to be forgiven. We do have True Pacifist for that but it still doesn't matter to some people it seems.
But who knows, maybe others who doesn't get this/realize it, they will soon enough realize how bad he is getting treated in the fandom.

finally someone says this! Asgore for me is a character with the biggest form of regret and overall guilt; I really can't see him killing all 6 humans but I think at the time when he set war was in a fit of rage and honestly you get upset too if you lost 2 children. Probably why I think Toriel could of just forgiven him and realize that everyone makes mistakes and no one is perfect.

I agree. I love asgore, even though he has abit of dialogue and even IF he killed those 6 humans he didn't want to fight/kill anymore. He wants to help his people, he also lost two kids in one night as well. I believe that he deserves another chance, and Torial might give him another chance, even if it might take years I think they deserve to be together. It's best to be forgiven at times, and this pair needs to be forgiven.

I agree. Asgore doesn't need to receive all the hate he gets. Sure, he might have killed those six human souls, or maybe not because of the royal guard's existence, but he only said to wage war upon the humans to give the monsters hope. Asgore probably didn't want to kill the humans. I mean, look how nervous he appears to be when you encounter him for the first time.
I don't want to say he's misunderstood, but for lack of better term, he is, upon the view of some fans.
