Description
Hi everyone, I am uploading an old picture that I didn't like very much, but it is an interesting amalgam of my two favorite critters: whales and otters. This fellow is a hypothetical primitive Hapalodectid ancestor of whales. Due to convergence, these extinct fellows resembled otters quite closelyΒ in body plan. This little guy is bearing down on a poor unfortunate shrimp. poor, poor shrimpy.
Please enjoy,
Blair

So sweet creature! It looks just like little otter. And I suppose that it's Rodhocetus...
Wonderful picture. Bravo, my friend! You are great!

Very plausible animal to fill in gaps in whale evolution. it is well rendered and is very cute!

Shouldn't this stage still have tribospehnic teeth?

Great job on the details! I'd just amp up some warm shading on the highlights of the protowhale so his prey doesn't steal all the attention with those amazing colors. Balance out the yellows a bit is what I mean.

Whoa...this is a fine example of what whales used to be like. It's kind of hard to every imagine them as once having feet. I must ask...does the shrimp get away?
