This is very nice
I love the lighting of this one more than V2. And I like the look of it with no material. I think it fits the scene. But I'm sure if you drop a mat on there you'll find a way to make it look better for sure. I've never heard of greeble. what is that? I'll have to look into it lol

Nice render though, and definitely glad you uploaded this

Hey, thank you. It's good to hear you love it. Maybe some day im gonna see how much would it take to render it with a cool material that fits well this scene.
Well greeble, is hmm i dont know how i should define it. Just look at the walls of the tunnel, that is greeble. Or simply search DA for greeble and you will immediately understand what is that. It's very cool thing, and with this technique you can create sci-fi like environment fairly easily. This Tunnel supposed to be some kind of sci-fi stuff i hope people can see that. Thank you for the fav!

I definitely thought sci-fi when I saw it truthfully. How do you pull off the greeble effect?

psybernetic-x In reply to MT-y [2009-09-24 06:14:10 +0000 UTC]

Because there is not a dedicated greeble plugin for c4d (or i don't know about it) as 3D Studio has, you need a polygon selection plugin, like chestnuts or reselector that is able to randomly select polygons. Then you select polygons with the plugin and then you tweak around with extrude, inner extrude mostly. I cannot give you a specific description, because there are endless possibilities and everyone likes different results. So just play around as i did and find the result that pleases your eyes.

Yeah, I really like it when the whole screen is filled with thousands of objects and millions of polygons..

Yes, i completely agree with you. But the problem is, when you have something as complex as this one and you put a material on it, it will take too much time to be rendered. So this was done without any material used, and of course i want to drop it on some kind of mat to achieve even better looking results. I have already tried something but i haven't got the patience and the time to wait for the render to be done. In my opinion it would have taken 8-10 hours to get the render done with a reflective metal material for example and GI turned on of course. By the way I badly need C4D 11.5, i have read some reviews and all of them stated that it has a much faster render engine than previous versions. Any one wanna buy me that for Christmas?

So do I. But I prefer unbiased render engines like vray, maxwell, indigo or fryrender.
I want C4D R11.5 because of MoGraph 2 with its new MoGraph physics system.
I use cinema4D for rendering tests or animations. I donΒ΄t care about the render time. Good things always take time. Good opprtunity to do something else while the system renders.
Sadly, C4D still has no function for creating multiple material channels of the same type like in maxwell. You can have glossy and blurry reflections at the same time within a material.
And still no real IOR-fresnel. No directional blur. And the SSS is also still totally useless. ThatΒ΄s why I use external renderers most of the time.

Ah i see. I didn't even know that Maxwell has such widespread possibilities with mats. Thanks for the tip.
