You should totally post a pic or the matrix opening and closing. You're already halfway there; having an open and closed section to work with.

I know this is Transformers but for some reason reminds me of R-Type, an old Sega side scrolling shoot 'em up.

I especially like this one! I must have missed it yesterday... It looks good at this angle, and I guess that I didn't realize that the other one was at an angle. I know that it's a lot of work, but I would have attempted to add the chain for the necklace aspect from when Galvatron was wearing it. The Matrix of Leadership makes some mighty fine bling!
