Description Because of that garbage twitter page, fanboys on the internet who care a little too much about pleasing people who bashing them, think it's ok to be a Sonic fan again just because they say Sonic sucks along with the trolls. That's not saying it's ok to be a Sonic fan, it's saying it's ok if you're a sellout and make yourself someone bitch, and I ain't nobodies bitch.
Also, this does not count for anyone calling themselves a fan but hate on everything because "It's trying too hard" and bullshit like that. They aren't fans.

It's pretty much spelled out in the description. The only thing to add is that there's this Sonic Stadium article calling the twitter page smart because it just does self hating jokes and saying the same shit trolls have been saying for years, but we're supposed to be ok with it.

Just to be clear though, I rant about it because they advocate the same bullshit notions that's been repeated for 11 years and never had any merit to them.

Well I do this shit in my own format of memes so I try to find the pictures of Sonic that reps the subject. In this case, many adventure fans catch hell for complaining about the modern games(despite the fact that the complaints are justified with Lost World and Boom failing to sell), the games themselves are usually the butt of the jokes and mockery I'm speaking out against. The comics, both archie and fleetway, catch shit to for not being like the games, even though the same people will support AOSTH and Sonic Boom, two canons that also have nothing to do with the main games, making them hypocritical.

Putting sense and logic into what people have been stupidly arguing for years.

Well done.

Well said, man! What's right is not always popular, and what's popular is not always right. I'd much rather do what is good for the series and get bashed by those people, than be a sellout to them too.

There's a quote by Captain America that describes this so well! I love people who live by this, and don't give in to something like this just because everyone else is doing it.
―Captain America
"Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world, 'No, you move.'"

Exactly this! Doesn't matter if all these idiots and social rejects decide that making Sonic into this less-awesome joke of what he once was is right, when it is truly not. We must stand up for what we believe in. When those Idiots and Sheep and otherΒ untrue SonicΒ Fans tell us to move, we'll just stand there and tell them, "No, You Move."

I fully agree psyco, these people care more about pleasing non-sonic fans and haters (like game grumps) than actual fans. They think that, if they can bash sonic like them, they'll be accepted as "cool" but it just comes off as desperate pandering.

Not only that, but their strategy is very unlikely to work. We'll see what happens with mania and 2017 but for people to immediately pretend that the twitter is a good thing is incredibly foolish as we haven't even got any evidence as to whether it's actually helping or not other than "look guys muh twitter iz huge"...what kind of dumb ass logic is that anyway? Why call it "smart" or things like that?Β

The only way to get them to understand us is to compete with other fans for attention until they can no longer deny that we should be appealed to. We don't have to be the biggest but we have to be big enough to stand out. I'm doing something similar with the metroid franchise as I'm planning on making my own metroid-inspired game as nintendo refuses to make one. Not to sound arrogant but, just like what I'm doing with metroid, adventure fans need to do similar things in order to get noticed. I mean, I'm fucking terrible at pixel art but at least I'm trying to fix things just like you're trying with this page. No offense, but maybe the answer is to do what gistix is doing rather than trying to educate drones?Β

This doesn't just apply to Sonic; it applies to any franchise out there. I would rather just like what I like, rather than hate on something I enjoy, just to please the people who hate what I like. If people have a problem with me liking Sonic or any franchise they hate, it's there problem. The worst I can do to them is exist.

True but most franchises don't have a huge group of people who do this, the Sonic fandom seems to be the only one. Even the Nintendo fandom has it's problems internally, but most people trying to convince other fans that they suck is doing it to prove what their doing wrong and that Nintendo should better themselves. This shit with the twitter page is outright selling out to haters in saying our shit sucks.

I get what Webber was trying to do which was appropriate the sonic hate and do some self deprecating humour but it gets to a point where sometimes the crowd are laughing at you and not with you. Plus if all you do is join in with the slagging off then you only further hammer that image into the public consciousness and that's gonna come back to bite segas brand in the future. If anything we need to focus on the positives of the franchise, the good things that series has given over the years and show the best of the community but nope that's just too much to ask I guess.

Also considering the people that are buddy buddy with Webber it feels a sort of clique has been building around the social media that's become a sort of in group thing as you see shout outs to popular hashtag "Fandom" voices and banter between Webber and others(Examples like Donnie, Gamegrumps, Tanner etc to name a few people). Not that it's a bad thing but it comes off as an exclusive club for a few friends rather than that a voice of the franchise.

That's the thing, it IS a bad thing due to what they're getting together and forming this group for, which you had already explained. A youtuber I watch made a few videos where he called out people who call themselves gamers yet rather then playing games, they spend a lot of time talking about them or damage controlling, which seems to be a common practice with the people who say the most bullshit. He even got on one person who spends as much time doing podcasts about game in a week as someone would spend their time at a part time job, and doing it only to make bias claims or damage control. These are the kind of people Webber and the other guys you mentioned are, people who spend more time spreading misinformation and damage controlling, Webber just made it into a comedy that apparently everyone has to be into or else you hate comedy. It's the reverse of what I did where I used memes in order to convey actual messages and discussion rather then comedy, but even then that was because I so often found memes and stamps bashing the games and archie comics.

All I say is that we don't need all this nostalgia anymore and the fact that if Sega truly thinks the franchise is struggling they need to let go of the mentality that the can't sell their games to use without references to the past. I've grown some more attachment to Adventure 2 despite my problems with it but I still enjoy the game only because it was different enough in that age Sega wanted to experiment more. Of course to parts of the fandom mainly the ones who are responsible for getting everything they want and still not being satisfied those games are old and overrated. They say with no irony as we keep getting games that play like the first 3 genesis games no doubt running the word nostalgia into the ground losing its meaning.Β

I think the influence of other media outside the actual fanbase has the problem of saying things that can be trendy to other people.Β

TrueSonicSpirit [2016-10-02 20:42:05 +0000 UTC]

It's sad because this fanbase have a lot of sellouts to the point that if you stand your ground you get shit on other because you don't like the Classics, said something bad about Sonic Mania, say something bad about Webber and that cancerous twitter account, or like the Adventure games even though their "Outdated" "Hasn't age well" or "Overrated".Β  Β

They only want to follow behind the popular coward and hang with the cool kids.

Being a corporate sellout doesn't make you cool, it just shows you lack the mental capability to think for yourself.
