Description
This was a lineart commission from shoxxe , and with this, I've finally caught up with coloring his commissions! Now I just have to decide what I want for our next one, if I want one. And yes, it's more race queens, this time my OCs Christy Adams (left) and Yuna Seong (right), sandwiching Kelly Shaw as the driver of their team.. In case you're wondering what race queens are, here's how Danbooru's wiki defines them:

"A model usually present at auto racing events. She is typically seen wearing skimpy outfits bearing the logos of the racing team or its sponsors. Her official job is to hold an parasol over the driver to shield him from sunlight while his car is being worked on."

Race queens are still around in Japanese motorsports, but were most iconic during the '90s, I guess because high-cut swimsuit designs were also in vogue. As you could gather, it's become one of my favorite forms of fanservice at the moment. Is it sexist, implying that the place of women in motorsports is to serve the male drivers and look pretty doing it? ...Yeah, you could look at it that way. Which is why I cast Kelly as the driver as well. Besides, if it was enough to offend me, I wouldn't have requested it in the first place!

As for technical notes, the final lines I got from shoxxe did, once again, take a long time to clean up to my usual standards of quality. I still love his style, but maybe next time I'll just retrace the lines myself. The background, meanwhile, is a shot of Fuji Speedway from Wikimedia Commons ( commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fil…). I did want to add a car in the BG as well, but I couldn't make it fit in with the other elements. The vertical canvas shape didn't help matters, either, and it would've taken even more time to put in. It would have been one of the early-2000s Japanese sports cars that are all over the Gran Turismo games, like the Nissan Skyline GT-R, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, or Honda/Acura NSX. I even thought about using the photo mode from one of the GT games to make the background, car included, but in the end the simpler approach you see above is what worked out.
