This kept me captivated far too long, too! I think it's hypnotic!
I was listening to "Kajera re" [link] and playing with this at full screen. I only clicked once. I know this isn't connected to any sound whatsoever but it seemed to go with the music. The randomness is enough that at least parts of it seem to be moving to whatever music I'm playing. I think it would be mind boggling as a visualization on media players like WMP for example.

Yep. Lines are drawn into BitmapData with 10% alpha and ADD blend mode.

Well this was done is AS3, but could just as easily be done in AS2. All the same functions and math are available.
