I remembered that scene in 2001... that was some spooky stuff. I like all the eerie bright colors in this.

I like the image, you've done a good job with most of it, the reflections are great. Buuut... I think you have to do more with the light, and soften everything a little. Putting brighter edges on the space-suit would make the light more obvious. Also I use layers of slightly offset transparent objects to soften things (I'm not sure if the vector program you're does transparency though), but that would work here. Maybe a few very subtle gradients on the corridor objects would help too.

Overall, I think it's got great potential, but the execution just doesn't let the light "sing" like it should.

thanks for your helpful comments on this. I wanted to give the feeling there are so many light sources that everything appears bright and flat and there are very few shadows.

Well maybe we'll see a revival of that asthetic, I mean I kind of crave it after watching Aliens. But I do also like the stylised neo gothic space ship in the Event Horizon, that goes beyond just dirty, it's positively evil - perhaps that'll be my next drawing...

it was still belief that the 'future' would be so crisp and clean .. (unlike blade runner or other 'future' movies' painting a more real picture or dirt and grim)

may have been the last .. (smile)
