Avalyne regarded her mare- tacked and positively glowing in the afternoon sunlight. Xymipha was a far cry from the broken soul she had been upon arrival, returned to her regal stature by the combined efforts of ARC and her new home. Spirit Horses were delicate, difficult to rehabilitate, but Avalyne had seen the hidden strength behind those blue eyes. Now they stood as one on the threshold of a new beginning.

A soft muzzle brushed against the toe of her boot, and Avalyne smiled down at her friend. The moment was broken as the opening notes of their chosen piece brought them to collection, and the pair began a delicate piaffe into the mismatched arena. Many nights we’ve prayed...
